I currently attend a top business school and doing a 5-year program (I am not sure I want to stay in it though), but my main interest in business was originally a academia/research interest, and that is starting to change. I became interested in the MBA program offered by Harvard which changed my short-term plan from academia/research to working for a company.

My main question is: is this the type of application they look for in the 2+2 program or is this more like a traditional MBA?

** I held/hold 3 tutoring positions one of which is a Teaching Assistant Position, I also held a Research Assistant position.

Thanks for the advice !!

I thought the 2+2 program was for those who wasn’t planning for an MBA, like engineering and physics, nothing business related.

Yes, that’s what I thought as well. However, their website said they accepted 6% business students. My resume is more oriented toward a teaching/research more than real business.

Their website says that, although the program was initially for those who are not majoring in business, all applicants are currently encouraged to apply.
However, this may be a trick to collect more and more application fees and artificially decrease the level of acceptance.

I can’t tell what type of applicant you are from that information. If you are an undergrad at Sloan you may have a shot. Elsewhere, likely not. The top undergrad schools usually don’t have business bachelor’s degrees.

Well, its a top business undergrad. Top 10 more specifically. I don’t see why you consider Sloan only. MIT is not the only good business school.

I’m just being more realistic. You’re right, MIT is not the only good business school. But, only Wharton offers an undergrad business degree in the Ivies (I’m pretty sure Cornell doesn’t).

Agreed. Very few Ivy Leagues offer undergrad in business. But I think they still consider the other schools even if they are not in the Ivy League. But thats beside the point. I mean, their website says 2+2 is for those who were not planning to enter the MBA program (which I wasn’t) but now I decided otherwise. So I’m not sure if I should take this opportunity of applying to the program or letting it go.

Anyone else got any suggestions?

Well, why not apply ? 6% is still 6% … if you don`t get in, what would you lose ? Just one application fee and a few days to write the essays and collect the recommendations.

You do realize that not many people have such accomplishments and profiles, in general :)

Thanks a bunch for the advice guys :)

Just goes to show how hard work can prevail even from non target school.

I have a few friends in 2+2. Most were engineers or in fields that normally are not on the B-school track. However, I do know a couple of guys that got in who were working at consulting firms. One of those guys wrote in ebook - it’s worth checking out - [How I got into Harvard Business School | FreshPlum](http://freshplum.com/how-i-got-into-harvard-business-school-e3)
