All my life, I wanted to be a veterinarian but a year ago, after joining my town's emergency squad, I changed my mind and now am determined to become a nurse. Should I tell colleges this? For instance, am I allowed to say that I was dead set on being a vet and never considered a career in nursing until a year ago or is this too much information? I'm afraid that if I say something like that, the readers will think 'Well if she can change her mind once, what's stopping her from changing it again.' Any help is greatly appreciated!

I don't see what the big deal is. Lots of people change their minds--it's kind of normal. Are you applying to a nursing school?

Yep, I'm going to apply to Villanova's School of Nursing and The College of New Jersey's School of Nursing.

Is your resume full of stuff that indicates you were looking toward veterinary school? If not, I don't see why you need to say anything about it.

I don't see anything wrong with that. It's perfectly normal for teenagers to change their aspirations, and as long as you sound like you're serious about nursing, you should be fine.

Thanks everyone, I'll put it in my essay then. Like I said in my first post, I didn't want to write it and then have colleges think that I could just as easily change my mind again.
