I got selected for a very prestigious advocacy and creativity program under one of the most reputable hospitals in my country for a year. It received over 8000 applications and selected only 30 after a rigorous application process.
Is this an Honor, or should I list this under my ECs?
My DS had a very similar question last year. He got selected for the Governor’s School of Engineering & Technology for our state, which he attended the summer before senior year. He went back and forth as to where it belonged, and finally we decided that it could go in either place. Make your full list of honors & ECs, and see which needs a boost, or where you have space. The Honors section in the Common App has a very limited character count for a description, and the EC section is bigger. However, regardless of where he listed it(I honestly can’t remember where it ended up), he put more details about it in the ‘Additional Information’ section of the common app. There, he had a few bullet points about the selectivity, what he studied at GSET, and the paper that he got published while there.
Hope that helps! And congratulations - sounds like a fantastic program!

You may think of it as an honor, but it is not officially an award.
I would think of this as something to feel proud and honored about, but it is not an actual award or an Honor. It is likely a part of a pattern of behavior on whatever is his overall EC would be.
Thank you so much! This really helped.
