<p>Hey, I'm still unsure what I wanna do with my life...so do you think I could apply to the engineering school and try to major in mechanical engineering, while still taking all the required courses for pre-med? And if it is possible, will the workload kill me?</p>
<p>First, yes at JHU you can major in MechE and also meet the pre-med advising requirements (the 8 courses!). </p>
<p>More importantly though, don't worry so much about this right now. So many students think they must have their four year plan (or 6 year or 8 year plan) done before they are even admitted to a college and selected where they will go. The first year is when you explore your interests, speak with your advisors, speak with your professors, discuss with your peers, and begin to make the big decisions about what program to major in and what your post-graduate plans might be. So many college students change their minds once they begin taking college courses and see the vast opportunities available to them. Don't think you need to have the plan set right now.</p>
<p>So in summation, yes you can do it but don't worry so much about it right now!!!</p>

<p>I think what Daniel means is that you don't need have every single class figured out for the next 4/6/8 years. Lots of college applications may ask you about what your goal for the future is or what you hope to do after college, but no one expects you to be certain about what you want to do in life. I think it's just a way to see what your ambitions are - do you want to be a doctor? a entrepeneur? a scientist? an author? etc - and I doubt it will ever affect your admissions decision. Besides, from one statistic I heard, the average person changes their major or career goal 6 times.</p>
