Is this doable?

Hello! I plan to self study AP US Government and Politics in my sophomore year as well as take AP English Language, AP European History and AP Human Geography. I have a solid background in politics already, I follow politics very closely and I just generally like it. Also, I have never taken an AP before. At my school, freshmen cannot take APs. I am required to take AP Euro and AP English as part of this program thing I am doing. So is it possible to self study AP US Government and Politics with those other classes or am I going a bit far? Also, what books should I use for AP US Government?

In addition, I am the very embodiment of a clueless freshmen. I understand that my school will probably differ from yours but how do I go about self studying? Do I just sign up for it AP registration or do I have to talk to a counselor or something?

Thanks a lot

If you’re going to be taking 3 AP classes already and haven’t done it at all before, don’t self-study one too…either wait and take AP US Gov’t as an actual class in a year to two, or self-study next year. Self-studying is great, but I wouldn’t recommend it to a first timer who’s also taking 3 other AP’s. Others may disagree, but that’s my .02.

AP US Government is a fantastic AP. If you already follow politics, the test should be a breeze for you. Self-studying is a wonderful experience and I am sure you will enjoy AP Gov :).
