who did you guys wite about in your influential person essay
I'm not going to coppy, I just want to see if anyone has written ones about people that maybe weren't so typical. Because I'm thinking about doing one about a musician. Do you think that will be ok, I know you can choose a person from any field but I just do know if I could say this person really "shaped culture and thought" they were just really amazing.
any ideas would be great

I know someone who did Bob Dylan. Musicians should be fine. Try to stay away from Michael Jackson...Billy Joel, etc. More of an artist with something important ot say. Someone else wrote about Martin Luther King...I wrote about William Randolph Hearst (media mogul, creator of "yellow journalism"), some people wrote about their like football coaches...or their parents. Just to point this out...there are two ways to write the supplement essay: You can either like talk about the certain person and apply it to yourself. Like make hte essay say something about YOU. Or you can treat it like a research paper...like jsut prove how and why that person shaped culture and thought. I know people who did it both ways. My personal opinion...interpret it the second way because your common app essay already says something about you. good luck!
