Is this feasible?

To go into Berkeley and as a sophomore apply to Haas, and provided that I get into Haas, that I double major in chemical engineering as well as business?

Also, how far away is Berkeley from San Francisco and LA?

San Francisco: 30 minute drive
LA: 8 hour drive, 1 hour flight

Ooh, ooh! I can answer one of those!

It's about a 20 minute BART ride from downtown Berkeley to SF, 30-45 minute drive (plus parking time!), hour bus ride. It's an hour flight from LA (maybe a bit over), a 6-8 hour drive (on average -- if you drive really fast, toward the lower end, at or below the speed limit, closer to 8-9 hours), 12 hour bus ride.

Answer to first question: Not feasible, you'll have too many classes to take. Not even a load of AP credits would be able to help.

So what would be reasonable to double major in besides business, provided I get into Haas?

Also, freshman year before applying to Haas, what courses do I/should I take?

business and econ is pretty common

All Haas students must sign a contract requiring them to graduate from UCB within 4 to 5 semesters of acceptance to Haas. Good luck if you want to try doing the double major.

I've said the same thing for those who want to do EECS and Haas double-major: it's just about impossible to do both due to the amount of classes needed by both and the lack of overlap classes. Unless you have a ton of AP credits, do summer school, and kill yourself for four years and/or a genius, it won't happen. You could double-major in Haas and Econ but that just seems really redundant and pointless. Honestly I'm not sure why so many students are interested in a double-major but the college really discourages you from them and I have to agree. You have no room for any other fun courses, double-majors don't help you that much in getting jobs, and there are just better courses of action to take. A minor, for example.

I heard that you can't minor in Business anymore and that you should just do courses of concentration.

thoughts?
