Okay when I first got my acceptance to Cal and got my initial financial offer, the page said that the total cost for one year at Cal was around $26,000.

Then last week I noticed it had climbed to $33000.

Is this for REAL!? Someone PLEASE tell me this is an error and no one else is seeing this. My initial aid offer was $23k. If this is true then I am 30k SHORT. OMG. :(

I am going to call them soon to see what's up but just want to make sure no one else is seeing this. This can't be for real.

[edit] Figured it out right after posting. They classified me as non-resident for some reason. lol. Strangely though, my Bear Facts page says I am a "CALIFORNIA RESIDENT." Going to call them up anyway to make sure.

OMG!! ahaha I read your edit. Man, you must have been freaking out. But yes, you’re definitely on the right track w/ calling them to tell them that you’re actually a resident. Did you forget to submit your SLR (Statement of Legal Residence)?

Same exact thing happened to me today. I called the Residence Affairs Office and they said that all students are considered out of state until their SLR is processed. I turned mine in on the 31st and I guess they have not processed it yet. After it is processed he said it would revert back to the in-state rates.

I’m going to call financial aid on Monday just to verify that.
