Is this junior year schedule possible to handle?

AP English Lang&C
AP World
AP BC Calc
AP Chem (double period)
AP Psych
AP Spanish Lit

i want to go to an ivy league... i took 3 APs this year (government, bio, and spanish lang) and i got straight a's. have you heard of people taking all ap classes? any advice?

It really depends on your school. Those 6 APs are certainly manageable, but if all 6 teachers tend to be slavedrivers with homework, you could be in for hell. It’s really in your best interest to talk to past students and find out what the work load is like.

Assuming you don’t have any significant commitments and are a good student, you’ll probably be fine. I’m taking 6 right now on top of varsity athletics and a job and have straight A’s, so. But then again, mine don’t dish out much homework at all (except in Chem really). And none of those you listed require much studying at all to succeed, other than World maybe. Though I never took Spanish lit- that one can really be a killer if you have a bad teacher and aren’t a pro at Spanish.

You do not need to take all APs to be admitted into an Ivy League.

It depends on your school and you as a student. I’m an IB diploma candidate (harder than taking all APs) and I find the courseload easy, but most people think IB is living hell (there are entire websites dedicated to this, in fact).

If your teachers are bad or give too much homework, it could be terrible. Try it out and don’t be afraid to drop some if its overwhelming. Good grades aren’t worth your sanity!

Hopefully you don’t do any sports, clubs, or community service, because that’s a helluva time commitment.

At my high school, it’s not at all uncommon to take 6, or even 7 AP’s your junior and senior year. Lang, psych, and world will be easy compared to chem and calculus. I’d go for it though!

ok thanks i just wanted reassurance. as you might imagine its a little daunting
and @niflheim, have you seen ivy league admission rates? i want all the help i can get haha
i play baseball and hockey (both jv this year hoping to make varsity next year) and crew… hopefully ill have time to kill myself at some point ;)

I know a couple of smart people who tried taking a schedule almost identical to yours…and lets just say it didn’t turn out too well. It’s better to take three or four AP’s and get straight A’s than have your schedule and get a couple of B’s, and maybe a C (trust me, it’s possible). Take AP Psych and AP Spanish as a senior. It’s better to enjoy your high school life somewhat then gamble your happiness now for a less than 6% chance at an Ivy League school.

Well said, penguin! Take his/her advice.

the thing about spanish is if i dont take it this year then that would be taking a year off of spanish and i would forget a lot. its nrot like im fluent

I kinda hve the same question. My school only offers 12 aps.
In order for my classes to be considered rigorous how many aps do you think I’m supposed to take?
