We started registration at my school today. My teachers have begun to sign me up for various classes and I need opinions on whether the schedule is manageable or too tough. Here is the schedule:
1. AP Literature
2. AP Calculus
3. AP Biology
4. AP World History
5. AP Environmental Science
6. Economics
7. Some easy business class. Lol.

A.P Lit is really time consuming. Lots and Lots of reading.

Are you taking AB or BC calculus?

Very manageable.

2 sciences…well I’ve heard APES is pretty easy to get through if you know what you’re doing. It’s still manageable though.

I’m concerned about the number of memorization heavy courses on your list - namely, AP Bio and AP World.

AP Bio and AP World are not really “memorization heavy courses”…if you understand the content within the courses, you should be fine.

Fine on what? The AP? OK - I’ll concede that point. If you understand the material, then you shouldn’t have trouble recalling enough information for the 3 AP World essays and the numerous AP Bio FRQs.

On the other hand, there are the unit/chapter tests. All of my AP teachers give detailed unit/chapter exams.

I’ll be taking AP Calculus AB if enough people sign up. My school doesn’t offer Bio or Calc, but we have qualified teachers. I convinced my counselor to allow these courses if enough people sign up. Would it be wise to take any off this list? Does anyone know how rigorous AP Environmental Science is? I know it cannot be properly measured since its school-to-school, but in general? The reason I’m taking AP World as a senior is because I was too lazy as a sophomore and dropped it the first couple of days. Right now as a junior I have: AP Lang. , AP Psychology, AP Government, Honors Chemistry, honors anatomy, advanced computing in modern world, Precalc. I basically was a stupid sophomore and freshman in terms of course load and work. I was quite lazy, and now have some sort of initiative. I’m also in the process of preparing/taking SAT1’s and SAT2’s.

Updated schedule. Is this still manageable?
AP Literature
AP Calculus
AP Biology
AP World History
Honors Physics
Economics
*random elective.

LOL APES is pretty easy so i wouldn’t necessarily take it off.

Are two sciences at once, along with AP calculus bad? I heard the physics + bio + Calc is a bad combo, as well as lit and world? I’m a bit ambivalent.

Here’s the best advice you’ll get:

Ask around at your school. Talk to people in the classes to get an idea of the workload. I can tell that at my school, AP Lit is difficult but a “moderate” AP, where as Calc BC is a 2 hour a night KILLER. AP Bio at our school was even more so intense. Although as an above poster said, understanding the concepts is key, there are just so many concepts to understand and remember that things become difficult. Honestly, don’t overload yourself senior year. You will regret it.
