Is this normal?

Next semester, I am transferring to a new college. Although I am transferring for financial reasons, I was excited to leave, as I wasn't particularly happy at my current university. That, and the program for my major was pretty dismal. Regardless, now that the time has come for me to say good bye to my friends, I amupset and regretting my decision even though I know it is for the best.

Is it normal to feel this upset about leaving your friends behind? It seems other people on this board are completely happy to leave.

Of course it’s normal! I think part of the reason that a lot of people are so happy to leave is because they didn’t feel like they fit in academically OR socially at their old school. Be confident in your decision, and be happy that you’re the kind of person that easily makes friends you don’t want to leave behind.
