Is this normal?

I applied in early december, Ithaca received all of my materials promptly, and I have still not heard anything from them concerning a decision. I do not have amazing stats but they are above average for those admitted to Ithaca. Is it unusual to be waiting over three months or do they admit most people near the end of the admissions cycle?

Thanks

All I can say is that I have learned that there is nothing that is "normal" in any of this college application process. You should also know that the level of Ithaca's applicants has gone way up. The "other" college in Ithaca is no more and now Ithaca College has gotten a great reputation. I love Ithaca College in case you couldn't tell.

I'm having the same problem. It's even more frustrating because I know someone who applied on the exact same day and already got in.

Frustration.
I'm glad I'm not the only one.

2 years ago my son heard quite late from Ithaca. I believe it was mid February. He applied very early in the year (probably by the first week of October).

Call them to make sure your application is complete and then ask when the letters go out.

My guidance counselor called last week, they kind of shrugged me off. They weren't willing to tell her when anything would be mailed. my.ithaca says they have everything. And they have had everything since December. Just tell me yes or no, already!
Haha, that's life, I guess.

I am thinking that it depends a lot on your major and how many applied for that particular program. My D applied for Music Ed (horn) and heard back pretty quick but others I know that applied vocally and on more popular instruments have not heard back yet.

I think in my son's case (his stats aren't the greatest but the extracurrics are) that maybe they are holding him as a fill in - you know, fill up the class in with the "better" candidates then fill in the remaining spots with the overall great kids who weren't 4.00's. Who knows.

I finally got my acceptance today with a pretty good merit scholarship so maybe it is just random?

I liked the folder they sent-the nicest out of all the places i have heard from so far.

DD had all her material in by middle Nov. and FINALLY heard (ACCEPTED!) today--she is sooo excited

momof3teens and volleysnap, Congratulations!

thanks very much NEM--and congrats to all accepted

Congrats to both of you! That is truely great news. Son is liking I.C. more and more every day. I can't say enough about Ithaca and what a great college it is. In a discussion with my son this week, he told me that even though he applied to nine colleges, that, "Dad, Ithaca really wants me." Being "wanted" by a college, I found out, is a really important thing for an 18 year old. While we are waiting to hear from five colleges, I.C. seems to be #1 on his list. Go Bombers!

I finally got in, and I got the $5000 a year Flora Brown scholarship.

won't be going there, though.
good luck!

holy crap, congrats you guys.

I really, really want to go there next year.

Congratulations on your acceptances! I'm currently in 11th grade and I toured Ithaca College on Monday. I was instantly smitten by the campus, location, atmosphere, etc. I would LOVE to attend IC in the future (hopefully as a Music Performance/Education major!!).
