Hello,
I am currently in the summer of my senior year and I am hoping to work at a major muic label (specifically Sony Music Entertainment) in the future. I want to take part in the Financial/Marketing/Accounting aspect of the company. The college I want to go to has an accelerated program called BS in Music Industry/MBA that takes only 5 years. Do you think having that Music Industry background would help me get my foot through the door/have a job? Also if it turns out that there are no jobs available in the music industry, will that Music Industry background help me in any way to get into other businesses?
Thanks a bunch,
Jess

Please help me.

Bump. Please be honest.

Hi Jess,
im sorry to say that you probably won’t get too much help here. I have to bump my thread like 10 times in here to get an actual answer. Its ridiculous lmao.

What is the program exactly called? To be honest, I think you should major in either Marketing or Accounting or maybe major in accounting and MINOR in marketing it they have this option available. Because if you get stuck with no job at the music label that you want to work at, then you can always get jobs at ANYWHERE else if you major in marketing or accounting because there are loads of options for the graduates of these programs; whereas if you major only in something like bachealor of science in music…then you’ll be stuck looking for jobs only at music companies and you won’t have more options to choose from.

For example, lets say you major in marketing and you apply for a job at sony. But then you don’t get the job. Then you can always go apply to other business companies that don’t have to do with music.

I hope i made sense lol.

I’d love some opinion for my thread too. People completely ignore things in here. ugh.
Its similar to your thread lol:
