Is this SAT combination a negative for ivy league admission?

General Rak is so irritating! The hyprocrite who patronizes:

Remember, correlation does not equal causation. Simply because a test is correlated with intelligence does not necessarily mean that it blatantly tests for it.

lol you're a stereotypical Crimson. Wouldn't be surprised to see you there in a few years.

lol...wow.....lets be nice.....he isnt irritating. He's a reliable source for opinion, though i dont always agree with him, in general, hes not stereotypical.

I gotta tell you. There are kids in the top 10% of my school who because of the weak weighting we have, do there homework, take easy classes, and get As. The weighting (or lack thereof any decent system) puts them in the top 10%. If they get low SATs, does that mean the SAT is invalid? No. I can have a 100 avg. in idiot classes, and if I get a 1300 that doesn't mean the SAT was wrong. In fact, the SAT is made solely for the purpose of leveling out these kids. That's what a standardized test is. If school A is incredibly easy and gives away As, their valedictorian might get a 1300, whereas the kid from school B, a really hard school, who is barely top 25% might get a 1300 as well. This, IMO, accurately reflects the students. The test is made to level out the playing field, so an easy school doesn't impact a student's chance like it otherwise would.

that being said, a 2100 is nothing to shake a stick at...what a saying. Anyways, 2100 is good enough. It's by no means outstanding, but it's not "wow, let's burn this applicant because of his crappy SAT".

And to whomever supported the people with no ECs and high SATs, I'm right there with you brotha.

I agree with your first statement, i know it 'levels things out'. BUT....the statement that high SAT/ no EC people deserve to go Ivy is bull. Like i said before, what good are you in the world if you dont use those brains that you supposedly have. If you dont go out and show that ur useful by getting a job, doing an internship, taking a leadership role in something you believe in or love, what good is your studying skills?

Remember people, we are about to embark on real life. Book worms never succeed. Watch the apprentice, then you'll learn. Book worms who use that knowledge succeed just as much as those that arent book worms but are fierce people when it comes to the real world, like in business or law. Thats what really matters. Its sad that you dont know that, but you will sooner or later. Maybe ill give you a penny or two on the street when i see you in your box. ;)

Haha, no I'm not saying we deserve to go to Ivy's at all. Obviously people who achieve the same SAT scores but have more ECs are more deserving. I'm just saying that I'm one of those people with high SATs (anticipating 2300+), but low ECs (one sport, one club, tutoring).

Ah i see....i got it. Sorry for jumping to conclusions. But yes, you're right. They are more deserving.
