Would these SAT 1 scores be bad for ivy league admissions? Since all colleges take the highest SAT score. THESE ARE NOT MY SCORES. Just the first row is.

640 math 430 CR 450 Writing
710 math 400 CR 500 Writing
600 math 690 CR 700 Writing

the highest from each section 710 math 690 CR and 700 Writing, these will be used for admissions?

uh, no it's not, 2100 is fine for ivies, it's exactly where you should be. I think dooit is on collegeconfidential wayy too much, though it seems in this bias website the most scores are dissproportionally high, that is not the case. Anything 2100 or above is exactly where you should be for ivies, and that is final. The only exception to this would be if your scores were out of wack, say like 500 cr 800 w 800 m, you know stuff like that, you want to be somewhat consistent with all your scores, although there is some room for gaps.

eh ur gonna have a tough time with 2100...xindianx is being kinda optimistic..with the right combination of GPA and EC's though, you have a descent chance for ivy...

hmmm... if it were all one sitting, it might be more impressive, i know they say they take from the highest... but a 2100 one time is still a lot harder than a 2100 three times

Those scores are highly suspect. 110,290,250 point ranges?!?! I would think you are cheating or something, if these are all from the same person. Collegeboard actually investigated instances of 500 point gains+ for cheating, which means 250 points per section. Even 2100 is not that competitive anyway. 1500 is a solid aiming point for ivies.

MIT's avg btw is 1470.

lol I got 800 math, 2330 total and I'm not even looking at MIT or any ivies besides cornell (I intend to major in engineering) because I dont feel I have chances at those places. Bad 9th grade + imperfect grades + lack of ECs= applying to slightly less selective schools like cornell CMU NWU.

2100 is not too low for the ivies. Why do people enjoy bursting people's bubbles to make themselves feel better over some stupid scores on a high school test. get over yourselves. SAT is not all of your admissions. I am 100% a 2100 can beat out a 2300 in other areas.

asher, you def. have a chance at MIT. why degrade your accomplishments in hs by making your chance of acceptance zero? it is worth the shot...if you are accepted, you may never know why. but it could very well happen.

well stam i may apply ED to cornell, so it may be physically impossible. Also, I see the randomness of admissions at MIT and just think how the F*** am I supposed to get in when uberqualified people get rejected, and the accepted have the equivalent of an 800 math in everything from grades to ECs.
Spartan check out harvey mudd and olin. Mudd is prolly MIT reject heaven but its an awesome school. I'd say its in between cornell and MIT in terms of selectivity. Olins probably harder to get into, and more ECs oriented.
Go High SAT Scorers with ZERO ECS!!! Screw Admissions BS!!

Can anyone tell em if the admission commitees also look at Nationality.
So that they consider someone more, because he come from that small country.

do ivy leagues like harvard require you to take the sat 2 writing if you took the old sat? on their website it just says that you can use old or new sat scores and all applicants have to take 3 sat 2s. i already took the writing sat 2, but will they consider it if i have 3 higher sat 2 scores.

i got an email from a coach at harvard and they said three SAT IIs are neccesary for admissions. the old SAT Verbal And Math can only be used to substitute for the new SAT CR and Math

It is possible to get below a 2100 SAT and get into an Ivy. It's called being a recruited athlete, URM, legacy, having psychotic EC's + essay + recs, or getting extremely lucky. I believe that, with two otherwise identical apps, someone with a 2250 would be far more likely to get in than the person with a 2100, and that may not even be applicable for HYP.
