Is this schedule too easy?

My senior year schedule looks like this:
Honors English 4
AP Government & Politics + AP Macro (each one semester; one teacher)
AP Calculus BC
AP Environmental Science
Honors Anatomy and Physiology
AP Psychology

Should replace Honors English with AP Lit instead? I feel like it looks too easy but god I am so sick of taking all these tough AP classes! I just want to focus on my ECs + testing scores because I have been neglecting them junior year due to taking tough classes and not having enough time. I do want to get into a good school though, maybe not ivy league but something like Tufts or Vanderbilt

there is no study hall at my school :l

Well I have already had 2 art credits and one of the counselors said to avoid taking nonacademic classes… maybe I should just have the 5 APs? I’m really worried about it though, it’s probably going to be really hard…

For competitive schools like Tufts or Vanderbilt you need to look at your schedule and consider whether your counselor would check off the box saying you took the “most demanding” course load. It seems like a solid schedule to me. However, I would honestly go with AP English Lit, especially since it’s doubtful that your year would become unmanageable just because you opted for an AP eng class instead of honors.

Your courses look pretty good, but do you happen to have any interest in the sciences? I notice you’re taking both env sci and A&P. Have you considered any of the other science courses like AP Chem or AP Bio? They’d likely be more challenging, but you may find them to be quite interesting. You should try to take as many classes as possible that you genuinely want to take. It would be insane for you to just settle for taking “some lazy arts class” or a study hall (why would someone even suggest that?).

Don’t stress out too much, but you should definitely challenge yourself as much as possible. Keep in mind that you’ll be applying to some fairly competitive schools, but try to take some classes that you might enjoy as well. Good luck!

Well I took AP Bio already… by the end of the year I should have 2 dual enrollment classes and 9 APs, someone told me that would be “most demanding” but I can’t be sure. You do have a point though about AP Lit, I wish I would’ve talked to some of the seniors about it before they left lol. I don’t know much about the class and how the workload is. I am strong in English though and did well in AP Lang so I’m hoping it won’t be TOO bad for me.

Yeah you shouldn’t worry. Although it’s funny how you’re stressing more about AP Eng Lit as opposed to certain classes like AP Calc BC heh. It would look better and be more rewarding to take AP eng as opposed to honors, and like I said, the difference in workload probably won’t be dramatic. Plus you say you’re strong in english, so who knows.

Consider AP Chem or AP Physics as opposed to env sci and A&P. I’m not saying that one is necessarily better than the other, although A&P and env sci aren’t considered core sciences, and would tend to be less challenging and relevant (Plus A&P isn’t an AP). I took AP Env Sci, AP Phys B, AP Bio, and AP Chem and from personal experience I feel like I’ve gained the most from the latter three classes.

Env sci and A&P are also usually taken for the easier grade, but I’m not saying you should avoid them at all costs. However A&P would definitely be a step down from AP Bio, and I’m not sure if it would make sense to do that. I know my teacher actually forbids Juniors that take AP Bio to take A&P their senior year.

It’s completely up to you, but make sure to consider all your options. I mean if you’ve taken AP Bio before your senior year and you’re also looking at taking two science courses, then it might be useful to think about.

Do keep in mind, this is going to be your senior year. It is inevitable that you’re going to start suffering from senioritis in some form or another, and going to want to ditch school work to hang out with friends more. That looks like a very rigorous senior schedule anyway, especially compared to what most people take their senior year.

I know it is definitely not an easy schedule but it does look like it compared to some of my school’s top people. My school offers a lot of APs. Anyway thanks for everyone’s help! I’m going go with AP Lit because like SAT128 said, there probably isn’t much of a difference in the workload. I am going to have to read books regardless, lol.
