MAC2313 - Calc 3
ENC3254 - Prof. Communication for Engineers
EEL2000 - Intro to Electrical Engineering
PHY2060 - Enriched Phys. with Calc. 1
GE (S) - Social and Behavioral Elective (don't know which one yet)

Do you all think that this schedule is gonna be too hard for the first semester?

Depends on your study habits. You’re an engineering major so your schedules are always going to be tough, it comes with the major. To me it’s extremely difficult. Good luck!

Yea I am thinking if all hell breaks loose and my schedule is just too difficult, I could drop the GenEd class and still be at 12 credit hours, would anyone recommend that?

Thanks for the input… I will see how things go in the first week, and might drop it if I need to- looking at the rest of the syllabus, it doesn’t look like the rest of the future semesters will be any easier, but I know what I have signed up for.

If you took IB HL Math, the first unit of Calc III (Vectors/Cross/Dot Products) will be review. If you’ve taken AP/IB Chem, a good portion of Physics will be easy (Thermodynamics).

I’m in a similar situation. I signed up to take Calc III/Gen Physics II/Gen Chem/Cultural Anthro. I’m still debating as to whether or not to stick with it or switch, I might drop Physics.

We can start changing around our schedules tomorrow at 1:50 right?

I think tomorrow we can switch around our schedules…

The thing is, is I also want to get involved in undergraduate research, yet I feel as if I take all of these courses and try to do undergraduate research it will just be too much for me… would you agree?

Can anyone give me a feel for how difficult the courses on my schedule are, as well as the workload involved in each? It would be greatly appreciated.

MAC2313 Calculus 3- Professor Jan Gregus
SYG2430 Marriage and Family - Professor Katie Schubert
EEL 2000 Intro to Elec. Engineering - Professor Herman Lam
ENC3254 Prof. Communication for Engineers - Professor John Francis Ronan
PHY2060 Phys. with Calc 1 - Professor Steven Deitweiler and Gregory Stewart

**Do you all think that I can manage this schedule?

Can’t speak to your math capabilities, but D started with Calc 3 (Thomas Walsh, a killer of a Prof) and had no problem (5 on BC exam). She’s also had ENC 3254 and found it to be quite easy. The only thing she found “difficult” was when you were supposed to be writing a query letter kind of thing for an internship (an assignment), and she was like you … in her first year at UF, so she felt kind of silly writing to apply for things that she wasn’t qualified for (even if it was a “pretend” kind of thing). She’s not good at “making things up,” lol … just the facts kind of person. But once she got past that … after AP Lit/AP Lang … the writing was a breeze. Also took PHY 2060 w Calc 3. Absolutely no trouble handling the two together. She had Furic, however, for her prof. If I remember correctly (assuming it’s the same w/ different teachers), she always found the homework more challenging than the actual tests. So, keep up w/ that and understand it … you should be fine. She didn’t take intro to EE, as she’s ChemE. Can’t speak to SYG class, as she took Cultural Anthropology, I think, for her diversity credit (I’d have to look up actual numbers to make sure).

Thanks a ton!!! I was worried that my schedule would be a bit too much, but you have convinced me otherwise I hear that Thomas Walsh is BEAR in calc 3, he has a drop rate of like 40%!!! I originally had Richard Crew but everyone said he was a killer as well, so I got lucky and switched to Jan Gregus I am hoping to do undergrad research as well so I will see if i can fit everything in…thanks again for the input

p.s. I also got a 5 on BC calc and 800 SAT math so I think starting with Clac 3 wont be too bad
