Is this too much for the summer?

Is this too much for the summer?

AP Micro/macro econ. online (people told me they have easily completed both courses in 4 weeks)

AP computer science online (no clue how long it takes...Also, I have no previous programming experience)

Volunteering for Habitat for Humanites 2 times a week (total of 8 hours each week)

Studying for SAT's

FUN and SLEEEP and AP summer assignments towards the end of summer

idk...seems like a lot but when I plan it out it all fits perfectly.. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Also, I will be a rising junior next year

My only objection would be against taking APCS without any programming experience. The AP exam is centered around Java, which, like C++, should not be a language for absolute beginners. Unless you dedicate a serious amount of time, it is even doubtful you’d get the programming experience, computer science concepts, and the required Java curriculum down by the end of the summer.

I most likely wont be taking the AP exam for computer science. Im just doing it for the class credit. Also, on the course outline, it says only algebra 2 is required. No previous programming needed. Do you reccomend doing some Java tutorials so I can get the basics of programming?

Honestly, APCS is not too difficult. Yes, programming is not something you can cram; it is a skill, and requires practice and experience. However Java (especially at the AP level) is not too difficult to master. (Source: Current APCS student.)

Recommended materials:
Blue Pelican Java: More concise than HFJ, also available as a PDF.
Head First Java: A bit more detailed, also spends alot of time on more “practical” stuff, like how to do GUIs and graphics.
javabat.com: Lots of great problems! Code online and compile and run it instantly. Even has an AP section based of previous FRQs. No account required and free (although I would make an account to save your progress.) Highly recommended.

Definitely try the APCS exam!

If you are taking APs through FLVS they will not count as APs if you do not take the test.

its not through FLVS, its a similar program that my school offers
