Is this true for Yale?

Does this website http://www.sexweekatyale.com/ has anything to do with Yale University?

Yes. It is sex week at ** Yale **. It isn't funded or sponsored by the University, if that's what you mean. It's student run and organized. This will clear things up for you:

Sex Week was organized by a group of students interested in raising dialogue and awareness of sexual issues. The idea behind it is that it does not advocate any particular positions, but rather brings to the fore issues that are, for many people, uncomfortable to talk about without a good support network. There was a whole series of events, some intellectual and others intentionally fun and light--so as not to over-intellectualize the topic--over the course of the week. There was also, as you heard, an undergraduate publication of "Sex Week at Yale" (supported through ads and corporate sponsorship), which has made its way to other universities as well.

i thought Yale is a more conservative school? students there are so liberal now?

Yale and many other elite schools have predominantly liberal student bodies and faculties. There are of course exceptions to this, but I would say that it's generally true, for whatever reason.

Yale? Conservative? Um. There are definitely a lot of conservative students here (one of my best friends, for example), but on the whole the student body & faculty are rather liberal.

That being said, being conservative definitely shouldn't stop you from looking at Yale if you're interested :-) Sure, you might be pulled into political debates more often, but in my experience, the conservative students don't feel really out of place or anything...

I believe Yale was always considered a "liberal Ivy."

yale's got a large group of drama students or at least people who are interested in drama, as well as a bunch of musicians. This population tends to lean heavily to the left. At the same time, it's impossible to classify yale as a completely liberal institution, considering that our current president went there. That's what I like about it, there isn't an extremely dominant political view on campus. it makes for really good arguments.

The image of the Big 3 as bastions of old-money, conservative types is long dead. They're not hardcore-liberal either, but closer to that than hardcore-conservative.

I consider myself to be rather conservative politically (not hardcore reactionary conservative), but I looked past all political stereotypes in my college choices, and Yale is still definitely my first choice. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a distinctive affiliation one way or another with Yale or any of the other top schools. Regardless of political affiliation, nobody can deny that Yale is an excellent school.

I asked my interviewer about this. It's great events like these that make ya wanna go to Yale! :)

Now that's kind of humorous.

I have a friend who did a porno blog in august and she got caught because her friends were talking about it. She is really worried because the guidance counsellor is freaking out at her school and one of her teachers who is ultra conservative is taking back her rec to yale. Will yale who accepted her now reject her for this porno blog because of this teacher or will they not care. She is freaked because she is afraid they will dump her. I think the Yale mag is hot! I heard Harvard is doing H Bomb another porn magazine? And BU film filmed a porn film for class.

ps she was with 2 guys in one of the pics and it was hardcore but isnt it all freedom of speech?

I have heard that in recent years Yale is much more gay/lesbian friendly than comparable schools. Is this exaggerated? If true, does it make any difference to someone outside that community?

Yeah, Yale is kind of known as the "gay ivy."

what about the porn n chicken club at yale?

There's definetely a visible LGBTQ community. Often, it happens that people whom you would never have guessed are gay. In a recent poll, about 10% of the guys and practically no girls identified themselves as gay. Some believe that those numbers are understated though, and there's a saying that goes "One in four, maybe more..." In any case, I think you'll find there's a fair amount of whatever it is you are looking for and the population is failry promiscuous. The gay/non-gay community is certainly not segregated and overall I don't think very many people have an issue in any way with this aspect of social life.

A person I know who said he had a sign on his door that read, "One in three, but not me." But, I don't know if any grief (or otherwise) came to him because of it. Maybe it was a joke.

weird stuff

The phrase "one in four, maybe more" comes from a Wall Street Journal article from the 70s or 80s and has stuck ever since. Back then, gay Yalies were much more open about their sexuality. I think nowadays the perception is that Yale doesn't have that many more gay students than other Ivies (certainly the more liberal ones like Harvard and Columbia), but the view of Yale as the gay-friendly Ivy has stuck.
