Is this UMich the rolling one???

Is the University of Michgan - Ann Arbor the really really good college with rolling admission? That doesn't make much sense... If so, could anyone give me more information on its admission policy? A link maybe?

yes...this uofm has rolling admissions...it says so on their official site...

so... if you submit an application at the earliest possible date (is it august?), when approximately do you receive an admission decision?

no offense to anyone, but is UMich one of the schools used by a lot of competitive HYP appliacants (2300+, 3*750+, 4.0, multiple leaderships) as a early insurance/backup?

Yes, the application comes out in August, and you can start working on it when it is released. It really depends on your credentials. It usually takes two months to 14 weeks to get a decision. If you're average or below for Michigan, you may be deferred, and if this happens, you may not hear until March or April of the following spring.

Here's a good link for you to follow:

Yes, Michigan is used as a backup by many competitive HYP applicants, and such applicants often hear within two months and get some nice scholarship consideration.

UMich didn't tell me anything until April...and I applied in early Oct. So, I have no clue what they do. All of my other rolling schools accepted me within 1-2 months. UMich thinks it's more special than other rolling schools, I guess.

Well, dvl, it is more special than other rolling schools. In fact, it's the most selective rolling admissions school in the country, at least the most selective I can think of off the top of my head. So although you were a top applicant to these other schools, you were definitely a below-average acceptance (if indeed you were accepted) for Michigan. I'd see that as a good thing rather than a bad thing about Michigan. It means it's more competitive of a school and more of a challenge if you were to go.

Well, I think I may have applied a bit late. Two girls with lower GPAs and lower SATs than me were accepted before me. However, they applied before me. And yes, I am attending UM in the fall, but I am by no means a below-average acceptance.

Yes, it has a rolling admissions process. However, some number of students will get caught in the "defer" pool and may possibly have a long wait before getting a definitive decision. Some students will hear right away.
