Is transferring to a worse college a catastrophic mistake?

I’m a freshman at a top 5 New England LAC (don’t really want to post the name here), and I really don’t like the general vibe. It’s a great school, I enjoy my classes, and the people are great, but the atmosphere is kind of like a big preppy summer camp (in an area that feels fairly isolated).
I’m looking for a bigger school in a more urban environment, and the school I’m targeting right now is Tulane, for a variety of reasons including its location, larger student body, and programs that I’m interested in (Latin American Studies and Business). If I were to do this, would it be throwing my life away?
I did fairly well my first semester here (around a 3.72 GPA and a few ECs I was dedicated to) and I can definitely do better next semester. I’m just wondering if it would be worth it to transfer somewhere where I’d be happier considering all of the opportunities at my current school (both would be about the same price).
Also, I’m interested in law school if this makes any kind of difference.

Thanks

Not at all. Go where you are happy and will thrive. Tulane is a great school too.

If the college is better *for you/i, then it is not a worse college.
