Is UC Irvine playing some sort of cruel joke?

I got an email today from UCI telling me that my "admission status has changed."

When I logged on to my UCI account, it said "You have been admitted to UC Irvine!" and brought me to a page for admitted students with a bunch of information. It said that I had until 05/01/12 to:
"- Accept our offer of admission (SIR) and apply for housing
· Freshman Housing Guarantee deadline is May 1, NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Submit your Statement of Legal Residence (SLR)
- Decline our offer of admission"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I am convinced that UC admissions don't come out until late March...?

As you now know, many applicants find out earlier than the official notification dates.

I wasn’t sure if this was something similar to the mix-up where some applicants were accidentally sent acceptance letters ED. I’m glad that this isn’t a mistake :)

I did some more researching, and do early results go out for Regents or students applying for the honors program?

Actually, each UC sets its own dates for issuing decisons and Irvine has traditonally started issuing them in Feb.

Same here, I was like “already?” Congratulations though because UCI is actually a decent school!

djking: Just wondering, what are your stats? Is Irvine one of your safeties?

1 Supplemental Recommendation by my school principal (occurs rarely in my school)

Yes, it’s a safety. Sorry for the long post, it’s a copy/paste from previous threads.

where is your top choice djking99 and what is your major?

Stanford is my top choice, but I probably won’t get in due to the sheer competition. I’ve applied to Johns Hopkins, Rice, Northwestern, Emory, Carnegie Mellon, and others whose acceptance rates are three to five times higher than that of Stanford. I hope I get into one of them. If I don’t, that’s totally okay; no one has to go to a top 30 school to be successful, on however one defines “success.”

My major is Biological Sciences (for UCI), Neuroscience, or Biology for all schools I’ve applied to.

i like your thinking. and it is that thinking that will take you far. but you will probably get into stanford, and defenetly get into your backup schools.

I don’t know… your APUSH score was only a 4… :)

Relax. You should get where ever you want.
