When the hell do you think UCI will notify us?

i am getting really impatient.......i keep checking nonstop. shouldnt it have already come out considering its one of the lower tier UCs? i heard it came out like march 1st for last year.

It's mid tier (4/9 undergrad), so no, they can tell us whenever they gawd d@mn please. Probably the middle of the month we'll hear. Just relax, you can't do anything about the decision, so it's pointless to stress about it.

mid march!??!?! AHHHHHHHHHHHH

Some UCI results are out. They must be sending them out in batches spread over a few weeks.

Chill guys. It appears that the only results that are out so far are Honors/Regents so they can attend special honors day or interview for Regents. (Well ok, Riverside maybe out, but they accept anyone who is breathing with a B average.)

BL: The March 1 date is an urban myth. UCI did not notify on March 1 last year, nor did they notify on March 1 in the prior year. Checking cc on March 1, 2008, a bunch of kids were upset bcos they "heard" that UCI would announce that date, but it did not. Time to put this myth to rest.

are we talking about UCI and Riverside, as a freshman or transfer student? If its for freshmen I can understand. there's one UC nobody is talking about though and my decision hasnt come out and thats UC Merced. Knowing its one of the newest UC'S, even as a transfer student I was expecting the result a long time ago. does anybody know about this? who applied to merced?

Chesserforlife: My senior daughter got an acceptance in the mail yesterday (Thursday) from UC Merced. I suspect you'll get in and certainly hope you do. We know someone who attends and she's very happy there...she likes the smaller class sizes and loves the new dorms and the people she's met.

I got a giant envelope from Irvine. I got in honors. It was really thin. only 2 sheets of paper.

SOON I hope. Ugh I hate this waiting too. Mostly because I haven't been accepted anywhere yet. I only applied for UCI, UCSD, UCSB, UCLA, and UCB. Maybe I should have applied for a CSU :|

Yeah, I received a giant envelope from UCI saying that I've been admitted also. So, I think UCI is notifying pretty early. I also knew before I received the envelope since I checked online.

i'm getting really nervous. i was rejected from ucsd today so i know i won't get into ucla. uci is now my top choice for UCs and if i don't get in i don't know what i'll do. i need to hear from uci now! all my friends have gotten in already!

Irvine is NOT interested in winning hearts and minds, that's for sure. They get the award for the least applicant-friendly admissions decisions process among the UCs.

laughmachine, don't assume you won't get in to UCI because UCSD rejected you. It is shameful how ucsd admits students. Most students don't realize the stupid UCSD point system that gives more opportunity for admittance to kids who are first time college admits who went through AVID than a kid that had a rigorous high school program and excelled. Welcome to our politically correct society.

The bar for UCSD is extremely high for the average kids without all the "poor, first generation, lousy high school, etc." hooks.

From your stats, you should be able to get into a really good school. UCI doesn't use the same point system as UCSD, although I believe even UCI takes these hooks into account. UC admissions aren't always fair and it shouldn't be taken personally, but I do believe you will get into UCI.

My fingers are crossed for you and all of those that are still waiting.

It is amazing how the "hooks" are such a factor in some of the UCs. I never knew that the fact that my husband and I have degrees could hurt my son's chances of getting into a state school. That is just wrong, imho. Qualified is qualified.

Thank goodness UCI accepted him.

There was an eye-opening post about the point system at UCSD. My son was rejected. He may have received points for his high test scores but nothing else. No community service, both parents have degrees, no ethnicity hook, etc, a couple of C's on his transcript and the bar is higher for OOS. Fortunately, he got into Irvine as a computer science major. Looks like Irvine has a good CS program. Things are looking good even if he gets a reject from UCLA and USC.

do you guys think i can still make it into UCI Bio major

i have a 3.4 GPA ( very low i know but its because of the two years of Varisty basketball)
1860 on SAT

Lucy:

Yes, Irvine has an excellent comp sci program, but UI is even better, and at half the cost?

I know. I have another son at U of I in computer science/engineering. It is very competative and my younger son might not have gotten in the engineering at U of I. And it isn't really half the cost. U of I costs about $25,000/year. (They are not generous with scholarships.) Univ. of California schools are about $40,000 for out of staters. But it is warm!!
