Hi, I am currently a senior in highschool, and college apps are due in about 2 weeks.
I really want to go into either the medical field or into business
and i was wondering which colleges, preferably UC's, is known for these 2 majors
im in a hurry, so if anyone can respond asap, i will really appreciate it! thank you and have a great thanksgiving break! :]

there are a ton of bio majors here and we have a medical center nearby for graduate students. i suggest u apply here because its a great campus :D

davis, SD, irvine, LA, and berkeley all have business schools if im not mistaken. additionally, all will do well to prepare you for medical school (they all have a med school except for berkeley, but UCSF is really close).

Business Econ is reserved for the lowest 10% of IQs that attend this university

The only UC schools that have business schools are UCB, UCR and UCI.

UCLA Anderson School of Management | Home ---- UCLA seems to be graduate only too.

University of California Berkeley, Haas School of Business --ver definitely has undergrads.

The Rady School of Management --UCSD school of management. only graduate though, although they claim to be offering business classes for undergrads soon. not a major though.

UC Davis Graduate School of Management --Davis school is also graduate only right now.

please dont spread misinformation.

@ OP: any of the UC schools will do will to prepare you for graduate school. even Riverside, for all the ***** that gets talked about it, is a top 50 public university.

for undergraduates, the only schools that offer BA's in business is UCB, UCI and UCR.

FlemmyD was listing other schools but they only offer graduate programs in business.

la_demolition did not "spread misinformation". The threadstarter is quite clearly a high school student, so graduate business schools are quite irrelevant in this thread.

the OP was asking about what schools would help him in business or in medical. you guys seem to think that business = undergrad only and medical = graduate only.
if you can name a university that is known for its undergraduate medical degree, then by all means say so.
even so, la_demolition's post says which UCs have business schools, not business majors. they arent the same.

at the OP: many schools (such as UCLA and UCI) offer something along the lines of "business econ". i dont know what the difference is, but it does exist.

Obviously the threadstarter is not looking to get into graduate medical school right now. Nor is he interested in graduate business school. If his rationale is "I really want to go into either the medical field or into business", chances are he hasn't had enough experience with either to even be thinking about graduate school. What we can do is discuss the merits of UCI as a preparation for med school.

A business econ major follows the general curriculum of an economics major, except with some accounting/managerial classes thrown in.

All UC's can prepare you for a career in either one of those choices. Please note that,

UCSD offers Management Science:
UC San Diego Department of Economics :: Management Science B.S.

UCD offers Managerial Economics:
UC Davis :: Academics

UCSB offers a Bachelor of Arts - Business Economics:
Economics - UC Santa Barbara 2007-2008 General Catalog
You can also get an emphasis in accounting:
Economics - UC Santa Barbara 2007-2008 General Catalog

UCSC offers a Business Management Economics Major:
UCSC Discover -The Business Management Economics Major
