my kid is very sensitive to any smoke and I would appreciate very much if any one could provide this information.

One more question, where to get daily drinking water for students, that is, should students to buy their drinking water from store or to buy from the dinning hall or anywhere else?

The entire UCLA campus has a smoke ban, but it doesn’t seem to be strictly enforced. I can usually go weeks without inhaling smoke, but one day I’ll be walking to class and someone in front of me is puffing smoke downwind.

You can refill water at various locations in the dorms; most will have water fountains or “rehydration stations.” The Student Activities Center also has one. Some students prefer to buy water filter (pitchers) for their rooms; others carry cases of 0.5 L water bottles and stash it in their rooms. I preferred the more environmentally friendly water pitcher route. It’s very common in the dorms, but somehow also are cases of water bottles.

You can still buy water in varying volumes in stores on campus. Markets and grocery stores aren’t too far from campus, either.

You can also get as much water or other beverages as you wish at the dining halls. Drinks also come with every meal at the other eateries in the dorms.
