Hi, I’m a current high school student wanting to become a petroleum engineer. I live in San Diego, so going to UCSD would be easier and cheaper than a school like UCLA, though I feel that UCLA would get me closer to gas companies. UCSD does not , I think, have gas companies visiting the career fair either they have like they do in UCLA. I’m wondering if UCSD’s mechanical engineering class would be enough to get a job as a petroleum engineer? There is also the problem of getting internships down here, as many of them are in Bakersfield or Redlands. Is it worth it to go the bit more money and hassle to go to a school up north like Cal Poly or UCLA to be able to get those internships? Thanks!
UCSB is known for Chem Eng.
