I am currently a undergra student in community college about to transfer to a four-year University to get my engineering degree. I recently applied for UCLA, UC davis, and UC Berkeley for Mechanical engineering with a GPS around 3.95, and I also filled out application for engineering science emphasis in petroleum engineering ( the only school offers BS Petroleum degree). As I talk to one of their counselor, they told me that the program is currently unaccredited but by the time I graduated which is 2017 , It will be accredited. I just wonder if bakersfield is worth to go to since I am living at Bay Area and that is very close to UCB, but Machanical Engineering sounds pretty tough, Thanks a bunch!
The question is, do you want to work as a petroleum engineer or mechanical engineer?
wel, I really want to do the petroleum engineer since I would be able to find job in California anyway, the only thing that is holding me back a bit is the school accreditation, but since it is the new program and it is the only school that offer BS in CA, maybe it is worth the try , and Bakersfield is full fuel sources?
The Bakersfield area is where the oil in California is, so consider whether you would like to work as a petroleum engineer there.
