Is Vanderbilt a place for a non-drinking Christian?

Danishpastry123,

That’s cool that you play the ukelele! I’m sure my son would love to meet you, too.

MemphisGuy, thanks for the tips. If my son visits during the summer, I’ll give him the info and he can check these places out.

Oh, just one more curious question. Are the majority of Christians at Vanderbilt or around Nashville affiliated with the Baptist Church? My son has this impression (and he thinks it’s cool to be Baptist) but I don’t know anything about the area. (We are not Baptist; we are what you’d call Reformed with a charismatic component-an oxymoron to most folks! LOL)

Christians at Vandy come in all denominations and while there are plenty of Baptists, I don’t know that I would say they represent the majority.

Rocketown is awesome. They bring in some great bands plus they put on some skate competitions. There’s also an on-site coffee shop. I’d definitely recommend checking it out. There were some shows I wanted to check out at The Anchor but unfortunately I never made it over.

I’d say the two biggest denominations are Baptist and Catholic. Both student groups are fairly large and put on a lot of events.
