i have heard mixed things

Student here currently. Yes. Greek life is the social life here. If you don’t like partying, have fun in the dorms by yourself on Friday and Saturday nights.

thanks so much!

Good grief. I wasn’t a partier (am still not), and I can think of maybe four-five times I spent Friday or Saturday night in the dorm by myself. Most of those times had to do with finals week rapidly approaching and me being behind (as was typical) on a large paper that was due in a few days.

If you want to party, you can certainly find that at Wake. If you don’t, it doesn’t mean that Wake is a bad fit for you, because you can always find other options too. You’ll have friends, you’ll have a social life, and you’ll still be able to look back on fun times at college as some of the best times of your life.

I know so many people, both greek and non-greek, who end up doing non-drinking stuff on one weekend night. Each frat doesn’t have a party every friday and saturyday…plenty of people don’t go out to parties every night or even every weekend.

Wake is a party school i guess…but what school isn’t?! Seriously kids at Harvard and Arizona State (2 polar extremes) will be found partying and drinking on the weekends. It’s not uncommon for people to stay in to do work on a Saturday night (just not every sat night)

I’m currently a freshman at Wake Forest, and I do not drink for a variety of reasons (besides the fact that I’m not yet 21). The majority of Wake students are funny, kind, community-oriented people, many of whom do not drink and will not try to pressure others into doing so. Yes, drinking can is a general part of the college experience, but it does not have to be a part of your experience if you do not want it to be. There are a few “dry” co-ed service fraternities on campus, as well as many club sports groups, student-run groups, choral and instrumental music groups, etc. who can show you how to have fun sans alcohol.

As far as academics go, statistics show that A/B students at Wake drink less or not at all. People with academic problems related to alcohol usually see the error of their ways around Spring semester and drink less, especially because football is over. Just find a good group of people to associate yourself with, and you’ll be fine.
