Can anyone tell me if W&M is considered a suitcase campus?

what's a suitcase campus?

A college campus where many or a majority of the students leave on the weekends.

No. It isn't

No, not from anything I've ever heard. But it certainly isn't a campus that students from other colleges are coming to on weekends.

Thanks, Bjcdb.

I would say that there are a reasonable number of visitors on the weekends- seeing how you don't know WM cavalier, I don't see how you can assume that

Cavalier is right. William and Mary is not a suitcase school. It's pretty much filled with people happy to be out of the nest so to speak, so I've never gotten vibes that people go home on weekends or anything like that. The truth is that not a lot of other Virginia college students come to see us either. We head out occasionally by the carloads for weekends seeing buddies at UVA and JMU. Tech is too long, but the techies will show up at JMU. That said, there is a lot to do on campus at William and Mary. We just don't have much of a rep as being a party school and that's pretty true. Still, there's tons of fun to be had at William and Mary. If you are from Virginia, you may like to break free from Wmsbrg occasionally and hook up with some of your high school buddies at UVA and JMU, nothing wrong with that.

P.S The best advice I can give anyone about attending William and Mary is that there are lots of wonderful, fun people here. THAT is what makes for a great college experience. Yes, it's hard, but to get in here you have to already know how to work hard. I was afraid of that. I finished my first year no sweat and managed to have such a great time. Students are not sitting around stressed out contemplating suicide! Students are not locked up in their rooms playing scrabble or XBox (well, sometimes we actually DO those things!!). This is the most beautiful, warmest, friendliest campus. The Profs are amazing. The food is very decent. Greek is the way to go for those interested in regular partying. For the rest of us, we have a great time. I love William and Mary. I am so happy to be here. Good luck!

What, bjcdp? Are you going to argue that W&M has a great party scene? Right. I don't "know" W&M the same way I "know" UVa, but there are some things that are apparent.

No I am not; however, I, and many others, have become weary of your unfounded assumptions and conclusions on issues of which you know not.

Many others? Dude, what is your beef with me? I don't think I've ever made any particularly judgemental or negative statements about W&M. I have a feeling that soccerguy315 (the w&m board's best poster) would agree.

Thanks for the compliment, TJED.

soccerguy315, congratulaions on being the best poster!

Yep. (10 char)

Can anyone who actually attends W&M tell me which ATM(s) are available on campus?

There is a Langley Federal Credit Union ATM in the campus center. Other than that, there is one at SunTrust in Colonial Williamsburg and another in WAWA. There are a few banks, I believe, down Richmond Road- Bank of America is probably by there and several others in Newtown

I was under the impression that there was a Wachovia ATM on campus as well. Is this not the case?

Ok yeah I forgot about that one...yeah there's a Wachovia ATM in the University Center lobby and another one in the college bookstore at Barnes and Noble

Thanks for the info everyone. Also, how often do the W&M students go to Virginia Beach?
