This was not unexpected, but my younger daughter’s school (Michigan State) is requiring proof of boosters for the spring term. She got her booster yesterday so we are good, but I am not sure how they will police this since everyone’s “six month date” will be a little different.
Have your schools announced a booster requirement?
Yes, both kids are in Boston and they are requiring boosters. They both received them on thanksgiving break. One ended up with Covid earlier this week, and likely the omicron variant.
They can police it by going six months out from the start of Fall semester when initial vaccination was required. My kids’ school gave them until late February to get the booster. Fall semester started late August
Columbia University, incl. Barnard College announced their booster mandate for the spring semester, with the requirement to upload the confirmation by a certain date (or “as soon as medically permitted”) for campus/housing access.
Since students had to upload their full vaccination info prior to the fall semester, it’s easily tracked. Their Covid Response teams includes IT staff to handle the Covid portal etc., so I imagine they have the resources to automate this, or at least cross-reference dates.
USC sent an email to students yesterday that said, "we know that booster shots are critical to protecting members of our community from serious illness. The university is likely to require them in the spring semester, and an announcement on this requirement is forthcoming. "
Exemption for the Covid vaxx in general. Just wondering if anyone has had success with it. We will apply for my D once she makes her final decision for Fall 2022, but I don’t know if it’s hard to get approved. Just wondering. Thanks.
Is it a deal-breaker for you? Asking because colleges keep changing their policies, and if she definitely wouldn’t attend if an exemption isn’t granted, that can really affect you come decision-time.
Thanks and yes it’s a deal breaker for ME. But, since my daughter is an adult now, she’ll have to make that decision for herself. Just hoping she doesn’t have to.
