Hi! I feel as though the question explains itself, but I’m currently a sophomore in hs, and with Yale Young Global Scholars applications opening up, I was wondering whether anyone could share their experiences w/ the program. I have a single mom, and while we’re certainly not a lower-income family, I personally feel like $6300 for a summer program is quite a bit. Please elaborate on you or your child/friend’s experience(s), I’m really curious. All the kids that ended up going to ivies at my school did YYGS, so I’m curious as to whether it’s a prestigious program worth mentioning on college apps? Thanks so much.
As long as it doesn’t become a financial strain on your family, then I would say go ahead and apply. YYGS also offer scholarships for students with financial need if you qualify for that.
As for your question “is it a prestigious program worth mentioning in college apps”:
If you are only considering the program to give your college apps a boost, then you are better off doing something else (start a business, do some research under a scientist, etc.). YYGS might give you a boost, but not by much.
