Isenberg or Economics

I am going to be a sophomore at UMass in the fall and I was just accepted as a transfer to Isenberg. I was in the economics program freshman year but i decided to transfer to ISOM due to its reputation and seemingly better job prospects. Also, the economics major has extremely lax requirements for completion which didn’t seem to adequately prepare me for the job market. However, I love studying economics; its fascinating to me and I am thinking about going into the public or nonprofit sector. Does anyone who has experience with ISOM and/or economics have any comments about the programs?
Thanks

My daughter is a rising sophomore in ISOM.

She took Econ in High School and loved it (That made her decide to go into Business rather than Engineering). She decided to do finance as her primary major for the job prospects, etc but wants to keep her options open (Corporate finance or maybe Public policy, etc) so originally she was going to minor in Econ but has decided to double major in both Finance and Econ.

She went in with a few credits already due to AP classes so she has enough room in her schedule to to do both majors. Maybe you could look into that option?

Good luck!

@ConfusedMominMA I have considered a finance/econ double major (there is a lot of overlap so it would be easy to complete) but how could an econ degree lead to a career in public policy? Public policy/government is something I am very interested in going into (or the non-profit sector) but finance seems to have a reputation of preparing people to be investment bankers or financial analysts
