Isn't MACBOOK 13.3 Inch TOO SMALL

Hey ..any guys who own a macbook 13.3 inch..isnt it too small...did u ever feel it was small...??? or is it cool that way..problem is there are no bigger sizes in the macbook...u have to go for a macbook pro otherwise...

its cool

my friend has the 13.3" mac and i got a 14" hp, and they both look really sharp and crisp, easier mobility too

what is your budget? macconnection and some other sites have some of the 1.83ghz macbook pro's for a more reasonable price

there are plenty of alternatives avaliable (some with bigger screens that cost less then the macbook)....if you must have a mac you limit yourself to that small screen or a macbook pro

here is a good deal (if it is still active)

i asked the same question on this forum couple of weeks ago and people told me it was fine. i was just a little bit worried because i'm used to working on a 17" flat panel monitor and i thought 13.3 would feel too cramped.

i got my macbook last week.

it feels perfectly fine and you never think about the size. i think since the monitor's a lot closer to you now on the laptop, it makes up for the smaller screen size. hope this helps.

GET THE MACBOOK

resolution matters.

I didn't want a screen that was a lot smaller than our 15.9" family desktop, so i got a 15.4" Dell E1505. It's great. And I'm sure it was cheaper than a Mac.

I just measured my laptop and it is a little under 12.5"...and here I always thought I had a 14"-something screen, heh. I don't ever feel that it's too small, but I also have it set on a very large resolution.

no.............

By the way, screen size is measured diagonally...so measure from the left hand upper corner to the right hand lower corner or left hand lower corner to the right hand upper corner. Anyways yeah macbook 13inch did look a little small....I prefer the macbook pro 15.4''.

I use a 12 inch ibook and love it because its light and mobile, in my classes where there are a lot of people it doesn't take up any room.

Keep in mind I had spent most of my time using dual 19 inch monitors because I did a lot of design work, but it only took me a day or so to really switch to 12 inch, after that I was fine.

Some of the mac features are really helpful for managing your windows, you can use expose to press f8 and make all your windows become really small and easy to navigate or f9 to make only windows of the same application spread out and be easy to manage. Plus with Screens which will be on OS X Leopard, you'll be able to virutal screens, this means at top right corner of your screen will be a little icon, each time you press it you'll look at a new virtual screen, this helps tremendously with managing windows.

All in all, 12 inch or 13.3 inch will work very well and be perfect for a student on the go, I use mine for everything -- watching movies, tv shows, all that jazz and it's great. You will definitely get used to it after a day or two.

Macs are pretty good for mobility, but I needed my lap-top not just as a lap-top, but as an effective and powerful desktop as well on which I could do my graphics and programming work on.

I got the Toshiba Satellite A100 last week and so far it has been great. Of course it's not the eye-candy that Mac books are (but then have you seen how dirty they get after a while? the curses of glimmering white! :p), but I love the large screen [and at the same time I personally really don't care for neither the Mac nor windows interfaces since my previous Linux computer basically ruled them both in terms of cutomization and functionality.] A big advantage of non-mac laptops I think is their flexibility, you can take them apart, add drives yourself and so on... My Toshiba is 15.4" and the most comfortable resolution to use on it is 1280x800, a pretty big screen. Lookwise, looks pretty cool and professional, and beats it's sony v. counterparts on the market.

I think if your going to stick with the basics then a 13.3 is fine. The only time you'll notice the difference is going to be when you're watching movies, oraganizing pictures or doing any gaming or graphic work.

I use photoshop a lot so I like a bigger screen, but for web browsing, email, music and word processing, it should be fine.

karma that is a funny analysis because smaller screens will have a direct effect on web browsing unless it is really high resolution (not the case here) whereas video and images will usually scale ok

the only reason people get smaller screens is so that they can carry them around.....that is the only plus they have besides using less power, the rest are cons

the bottom line is people will tell you different things.....the macbook isn't exactly rare so why don't you go to your local computer store and actually look at one and then compare it to a 15.4 (preferably one running at a resolution higher then 1280x800 like the macbook pro or a number of others)...you don't want to be in a situation where you look across your dorm room and wish you had your roomate's 15.4 lappy or where you wish you had a small one like the macbook - once you have them side by side decide which size you like better

Personally, I like the 13.3 inch. If you have seen Macbooks and Macbook pros in person and were worried about the smaller screen size of the Macbook, then you should get the Macbook pro. If someone likes a bigger screen but bought a Macbook instead of the Macbook Pro I would have to assume it was the price difference that motivated the buyer to opt for the smaller one, but I think this is a huge mistake. If the screen size is very important, you can find other computers for the same price with 14 or 15inch screens, but probably not Macs.

Well, right next to a 15-inch, yes the MacBook looks small. I just switched to a Macbook from an eMac (which has a rather larger screen) and I have no complaints - the MacBook doesn't feel to small to me, and it's not a strain on my eyes.

Go to an Apple Store and try one.

well...i just checked out lenovo z60m..its a great deal for no money..just 1049$..and it has all tech specis better than a mac..better resolution and everthing...but working on a mac is also different felling alltogether...i am really confused

The Z60m is on sale as it is an old model that uses the Pentium M, not the Core Duo. Check out the prices on the Z61m, big difference.

And yes the 13.3" screen on the MacBook is a great size.

I'm typing this on my MacBook. Size has not been an issue.

I have a macbook as well. I have a 17" LCD that I plug in when I'm at home, so I have plenty of screen size here. Then I have the sleek portable 13" screen which is so easy to take places.

I thought the 13.3" would be too small, but it's worked out great and I love it :)
