I'm having trouble coming up with a topic for the issue of importance essay. Several issues I feel I could write passionately about are how our society lacks passion and ambition (going to school to become a doctor, lawyer etc because society defines that as success vs. pursuing what they are truly passionate about), self image/definition of beauty, or the importance of work ethic.
But I feel like these topics are risky and not essentially "good enough" for a college admission essay though. I'm just stuck on what to write about especially since I know absolutely nothing about politics. Any thoughts?

Or maybe money is the root of all evil?

I gather that you have been instructed to write about an in issue that is important to you? If so, any of the topics you mention are fine. You just need to articulate your points clearly and logically. Although you “know nothing about politics”, surely you think some issues are really important, and have an opinion on them that you can write about. Be sure to have an English teacher or other adult with strong writing skills to review your essay and provide feedback.
