I know certain colleges are known for "partying" more than others. I have two friends whose kids went to Humbolt and they both returned home because it was too much of a party school. Since Ithaca is in such a cold place, is it a party school? Or are there things to do and places to go? I know there will be drinking etc... at all colleges, but I don't want to send my daughter to a school where there is nothing to do because of the weather. Opinions?

I wish to know this as well, but from my exp people still party on the regular even it’s cold

The mall is 4 miles away and no shuttle, you have to take the city bus. The town is made up of restaurants and tattoo parlors. I can’t see the students getting off campus much. At 3pm on a Friday the library was packed so take that for what it is worth. The school was too small and compact for me. Went to an accepted student day and they made zero effort to convince students to attend. I expected the school to wow me and it underwhelmed me. I think a lot revolves around the music students.

Something I would like to know as well, daughter was accepted to a health science major and very seriously considering attending. She is definitely not a drinker and doesn’t party much at least for now but wants to get involved in clubs. I am worried whether there will be enough kids like her that are not into drinking

We visited Ithaca college last week and had a fantastic tour with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide. My son is a potential music student (still a junior in high school). It seemed to me that there was a lot to do on campus with clubs and residential life. The tour guide also told us that the city buses run regularly from the campus to the downtown area. I have been on many college campuses and did not get a huge party vibe from Ithaca at all. I was definitely more impressed than I thought I would be.
