At this moment, I'm not sure if I want to go into i-banking, because I don't really like the financial aspect of business stuff... But I do like computers/internet design/programming/etc.. and I do like business stuff like entrepreneurship/advertising/marketing and I've been told a good high paying career to get into would be Information Systems (IT) Management. The salaries are above 100K and it seems like something that would interest me. I've been also told it's good to get your MBA and study IT and Business courses in college. I dont know any good colleges or majors for this, I would really like some advice because I dont know the steps to take to get this job, like I know the steps for becoming an ibanker

Yes, school is a good foundation for this career, however, IT management is a career that is more based on one's desire to dig in and learn all they can about networks, databases, telecommunications, etc... technology is constantly changing and evolving, so you have to have a deep internal desire to stay on top of all the options and which is best for your company (especially down the lines of security)... IT management essentially is a balancing act on just the right amount of necessary technology at the right costs...thus, this is also a career that begins at the bottom of a company's IT department and then evolves from there... I don't really think there are many opportunities to obtain an entry level IT management job... you have to know the company very well, because they are all vastly unique, for instance, what one company needs may not be the right set up for another company, and one company may be ready to make large technology gains while another just doesn't have the infrastructure yet, etc, etc, etc. It requires a very specialized understanding of a specific company, its industry, and its limitations, etc. I think this is why IT managers are paid so well, because they are almost invaluable to a company--(i.e. if the IT manager leaves, basically the company is SCREWED, so they have to retain the IT manager which means lots of perks and high salaries).

actually i dont think it would be a good career for me.... screw it ill hope to make it as a successful entrepreneur haha, but seriously all i like to do with computers is make websites and graphics and stuff like that im not into all the networking stuff.. but im just gonna try to major in finance or econ because i heard those are the best 2 majors for a business major

wow, that was quick! ok then
