Italian 4 and Italian Lit at the same time?

my Italian teacher reccomended that I take Italian 4 AND Italian Lit this spring (normally you
do one after the other). Now....here are the benefits with that:

Its a Writing course, that I need anyway for a gen ed/
It would complete the Italian minor.
It counts for the W. Euro certificate.
IF I do not get to go to Italy in the summer (which depends entirely on whether or not I get scholarship money), I will have still
fulfilled the minor and there would be no pressure to take Literary
Italian in the fall of my senior year. If I go to Italy in the summer, the guy in charge of the program said he'd stick me in the Advanced Comp course which I would love to take.

BUT here are the downsides:
it doesn't fulfill a Lit req even though its Literary Italian..I MAY be able to get it to count ofr the req, but I'd have to appeal to a Dean.
I would have to drop my current French course, which is also a Lit
course (that doesn't count for the req either!)...only because I don't want to do two lits at the same time and
I need to stay at 18 credits.

Now, I thought of another option if I take Italian Lit....I could try
to get special permission to take Intro to French Civ, which is NOT
lit heavy but sitll in French thus enabling me to continue with
french. It is actually full so I would have to ask one of the
instructors. It would also complete the French minor and count toward the
WES certificate (the other French course didn't count toward either). BUT it would not fulfill any of the gen eds that I
need.

Now, IF I did take this course, I would still need to drop one of my
other courses. I will not drop any of my major courses because i need
to get those core classes done with. I would then drop an Art History course dealing with China, thus losing both my
non-western and art apprciation gen ed reqs! I could just try to fulfill that req in my senior year though...

Anyway, the teacher for Italian Lit will be the same one who taught me in Italian 3. He thinks I should consider it and so does the guy in charge of the study abroad program I want to do. My Dad advised in favor of doing both courses, but my concern is possibly having ot drop French for a term OR having to give up a course that would fullfill two gen eds.

I know this is extremely long, but just wanted to be complete :-) . What would y'all reccomend?
