I just got back from Rome last week. We had to show our vaccine cards to get inside every place except stores and you could eat outdoors at restaurants without showing your card. Masks are mandatory indoors and while we were there they added an outdoor mask mandate for certain busier areas. My daughter is studying there and just shows a picture of her card on her phone but I carried my card with me.
The only time we had any question about the US vaccine card was at a nicer restaurant called AdHoc when the server was worried that we didn’t have the Italian pass. We explained to her that Italy does not issue them to visitors and she ended up being fine with it. I was surprised she questioned it because I know other tourists go there (I found out about it on Trip Advisor) so I am sure she has seen the white cards before. I’m wondering if she was just worried because the new rules started up while we were there so maybe she was being extra strict.
Plane tickets purchased and deposits made for hotels, et al for a two week mid-June 2022 trip. We are doing Rome-Florence-Venice-Amalfi Coast. It was meant to be a 25th anniversary trip last year but alas… Super excited!
Congratulations on the rocket purchase.
I think I’m going to buy tickets today for October 2022. It looks like on United if I purchase by end of year I can change or get a credit if we can’t go.
I’m thinking fly into Milan and out of Florence. Rent a car for part of the trip and concentrate on Northern Italy, Tuscany and Umbria. My husband has a good Italian friend who wants to help us with a plan.
It has been interesting to read back to when I first started this thread. Crazy world and times we are living in.
No I haven’t. It’s long been on our list as everyone talks about it being a place they could visit over and over. Hoping it is far enough away to remain a go but we know we will be able to get a refund if we can’t.
