it's confusing being a junior this year

<p>Another new SAT vs. old SAT thread. My original plan was to take both the old SAT and the new SAT to see which I scored better on, but after testing for three hours one fine Saturday this October, I'm thinking it might be easier to just take the Writing SAT II while it still exists and be done with it. Opinions?</p>

<p>The only advantage I can see to taking the new SAT is that there are no pesky math Quantative Comparisons. Those things trip me up. And I need to improve my math score, if possible - my score on the old SAT is a 650. So I guess if I took the new SAT it could be advantageous, but I'd have to take a new SAT practice test before I knew if it would help my math score out any. Verbal is fine; I got a 760 and I'm not really itching to improve it, nice as an 800 would be. The point is, though, while I'd <em>like</em> my score to be in the 1450+ range, I don't plan to go out of my way to take the new SAT and get it there unless colleges would probably require it anyway. The main problem for me with the new SAT is the fact that I simply can't concentrate for that long that early in the morning. The new test will be close to four hours - that is ridiculous. I'm happy enough with my 1410 on the old SAT. Would most colleges require that I take the new SAT, or would the old SAT + the SAT II Writing test suffice?</p>

<p>Some colleges will only take the new one, and since you probably don't know your list for sure, you're probably better off taking the new one, as you'll probably improve anyway.</p>

<p>I know...and it's extremely pathetic that I'm trying to worm my way out of taking it only twice...but...I'm a pathetic person. Hehe.</p>

<p>no i feel bad for you 2006 kids. It is a bit confusing, and plus, there isn't as much known about the new SAT so it's harder to prep for them. And you don't have the option of getting everything done with earlier. I only took my SAT once, in december of junior year and it was great to get it done early. But since you already have a good score, you can only improve, right?</p>

<p>My deal was 1400+, no retake. My 1510 was very much appreciated. =) I'm taking writing in December and then no more SAT's ever. Hehe. The new SAT has more advanced math, so if you have issues with the math now, I'm not sure your score would go up. If it's just QC, then go for it. I would never subject myself to an extra hour of testing in one day. Lol.</p>

<p>take the one in March. the curve will prolly be generous and colleges that we apply to won't know what the heck is going on. ;)</p>

<p>I was planning to do the old one, but then schedule was extremely tight, so I decide to switch to the new one since my Verbal score is totally dependent on my analogies. The maths part - if its gonna be hard, its gonna be hard for everyone, so I'm not that worried. Its juz the time is freaking long and there is one WHOLE experiment section, which ****es me off.</p>
