a good chance at the ivies?? honestly?! =]

Thanks for chancing me!

I agree with everyone else. I think you are basically in at NYU. Colombia will be a little bit harder, but I still think you have a really good chance. Princeton is the biggest reach, but its the same for everyone. Good luck!

NYU - In
Columbia - High Reach
Princeton - Reach, most likely in

One of my friends got into Princeton and he doesn’t have half the stuff you do.

2010 already

Princeton - Reach
Columbia - Reach (Although if you wrote an a good essay like my friend did, you could get accepted. He got accepted to Columbia and not Cornell)
NYU - Match

Chance me back!

@riku92mr: if you don’t mind my asking, and if you know, what were your friend’s scores like?

i only think an interview will help if you feel that there is something that you want to tell an admissions person in person… it wont make or break you… but if you want to then go for it… some colleges will like that!

GOOD LUCK :)

@SuperHenderson13 i had an alumni interview already. went really well in my opinion. and the interviewer told me that they hope i am an alum one day too! =]

Definitely in at NYU, strong shot at Columbia, and Princeton is up in the air! Great profile, though! Best of luck

I think from what you have told us, NYU is a good match, and princeton is a bit of a reach. i think you have a pretty good shot at columbia too. god luck! ^-^

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/846668-chance-me-plz.html

What should automatically discredit so many of these replies is that Princeton and Columbia are very close in admissions standards today. For you to be ‘in’ at one and a ‘reach’ at the other is just silly.

If you attend an elite high school, much will be expected from you at top schools whereas NYU schools will give you points. I’d have to say your scores are low for P and C and you’ll face a lot of competition from your own school making them major reaches. I think you’ll get into NYU.

thanks hmom… thing is though, believe it or not, not too many people from my high school are applying to princeton and columbia. and i know quite a few that got in previous years with similar scores, gpa, etc.
and for princeton i only sent ACT, which is the high end of their average, so i’m hoping that’ll help.

Take a hard look at Princeton’s score range keeping in mind that 40% admitted have hooks. Their 75th percentile SAT scores are 790 per section. That’s where the unhooked begin to have a real shot. Whatever corresponds with the ACT as well and that’s going to be higher than a 33.

Just being brutally honest.

oh no hmom, i know my chances at princeton are quite slim to none.
however, i have seen the high end of the 75% ACT and believe it or not they are 33. (or 34, which is my superscore, though pricneton doesn’t consider that :
and i do have a “hook” that i wrote about in my add.info. and told my interviewer about.
more than one actually. i’m just not writing that all here for personal reasons.
but thanks for being brutally honest!
after all, that is what i asked for ;]

Princeton: reach
Columbia: low reach
NYC: match
Good luck!!

bump!? anyone anything more to say!! =]
greatly appreciated!

please?!? any ideas!? =]

bumping it up! =]

princeton-reach

columbia- 50/50

NYU- probable

*Columbia University - reach
*Princeton University - reach
*New York University - match

Your test scores and no stand-out EC’s make Columbia and Princeton high reaches. NYU should be fine though.
