It's horrible...............

What's wrong with me? I'm getting 17~18 SC correct but 3~4 RC wrong. It's stupid. But I'm getting these types of question wrong.

EXCEPT

IMPLIED

how do you people answer these questions? Plz help to understand this process.

EXCEPT questions are literal comprehension questions. Meaning that the four wrong answer choices are listed in the text, you just have to go back and find them. This is one reason I recommend that students ‘notate’ a passage as they read. After each paragraph, write a 2 or 3 word summary next to it. If you have any EXCEPT questions, these notes will make it easier to hunt down the wrong answers. One you find where the passage mentions those four items, the remaining answer is the issue not discussed, and therefore the answer.

IMPLIED questions play on our tendency to make assumptions that are not necessarily in the test. If I said “Scarlett went to the nurse’s office for the first time today,” there could be MANY assumptions, such as Scarlett had never been sick in school before, Scarlett had never met the nurse before, or Scarlett was sick today. But NONE of these assumptions can be made by every person who reads the text. The only thing that EVERY reader can draw from that statement is that Scarlett had never been to the nurse’s office before today. Be careful of picking answer choices that can not be inferred by EVERY SINGLE READER.
