Its May! Time for JHU decisions~

Anyone else out there applying to Hopkins?

i did, when are supposed to hear back?

May is all I have been able to find… I hope that means some day before May 15th, as that is the deadline for deposits @ the other schools I have heard back from >.<

I also applied. When did people start hearing in previous years?

After a ton of searching - it looks like they sent out a decision via email last year on May 15th…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/johns-hopkins-university/711157-jhu-transfers-thread-2.html</a></p>

Wow, that would be cutting it seriously close for me; a couple hours at most to make a transfer decision. Ouch.

Called today – apparently they do not expect to release decisions until either the last week of May or first week of June this year. Maybe there is a huge increase in applications?

Well, this is going to make things complicated.

wow thats pretty late

btw im also applying

Yep, looks like I will be begging a few admissions offices to let me delay the deposits tomorrow.

GL to everyone btw :slight_smile: JHU is my #1 - top school for my intended career and close to home.

Can we ask JHU for early decisions like Brown if we need to commit a college before June?

I have never even heard of that before, but if that works please let me know!

Just found this too:

[url=http://blogs.hopkins-interactive.com/]Hopkins Insider/url

[url=http://z14.invisionfree.com/Hopkins_Forums/index.php?showforum=37]Hopkins Forums -> Transfer Exchange/url

wow, hopkins will prolly be the last school i find out from.

On the bright side, I imagine this can only raise our chances for admissions. A lot of people will most likely end up having no choice but to withdraw their application, and many people will have already been accepted into their target school.

On the other side, I am going to be down a couple hundred dollars that I really do not have to spend if I get in. :</p>

Based on the article and forums, it seems like JHU will be accepting maybe 40 out of 825 applications this fall – technically that makes their acceptance rate lower than Harvard. So again, good luck to everyone!

do you think there is any point of sending my final transcript from this semester in or will it not effect their decision since they will probably out really soon

You guys are way less neurotic than the transfer applicants to some other schools. Hopefully we will find out soon, I am sick of waiting. Post on here when you hear from JHU!

haha yea i think everyone is less neurotic since Hopkins has a pretty darn low acceptance rate and since they take so long to release decisions that everyone has either given up or found another school to go to, well at least this is my case

@mdtransfer …just curious, where did you get the number 40 for students who would be accepted this year? that’s beyond scary.

Does anyone have an update as to when we will hear from Hopkins. It is getting lateee.

@emschaf - That was a conservative estimate based off of the data I gathered from transfer acceptances / overall enrollment from 2007 - 2009. It was NOT an official number of any kind, just an observation of statistics.

@Obell - The latest update is still the JHU Insider blog, which said that transfer decisions would be released via email and postal mail sometime during the 3rd or 4th week of May.

Good luck everyone! I cannot wait to hear back from JHU, but things are getting incredibly complicated with deadlines, enrollment deposits, and the late timing of their decision release. My student loans are about to go off deferment if I do not decide which school I am going to this week.
