So I'm officially enrolled at UofM as of about ten minutes ago, and I have to say that I couldn't be more excited. It's really surprising to me that I have absolutely no regrets right now. I turned down notre dame, washu-st.louis, vanderbilt and msu. It's even more surprising that one year ago, I could never have imagined I would end up here, I was a die-hard michigan state fan and hated UofM, but after visiting, I absolutely loved it. So just a little advice for anyone still considering--don't rule out schools because of a lifelong fanhood and make sure you consider what's right for you, not the prestige or anything else. I was so concerned with what other people would think when I started trying to figure out my decision, that I kind of lost focus as to where I would really be happy. UofM is instate for me, so a lot of people in my class end up there, and that was one thing that was pushing me away. Anyway, I just wanted to share my excitement and see if anyone else was feeling the same way?

Well two years ago, In no way, shape, or form could I picture myself submitting an enrollment deposit to Michigan. MAYBE a business major at Eastern Michigan, but that's it. I was graduating H.S. (barely) with no real plan or goal in life to do anything. Lot's of my friends had just been rejected / waitlisted at Michigan and developed a strong hatred for the school they once loved.

After two years at a community college, I cleaned myself up and got my act together. Now I am a goal-oriented person who is getting much better grades and is living an overall better life. I am ecstatic that Michigan is giving me an opportunity of a lifetime to get a degree in something I am passionate about. See you around campus next fall (and at football games)!!!

Good choice. UM is as good as, if not better, then WUSTL, Vandy, and Notre Dame, and probably a lot cheaper for you.

I'm so glad you turned from the dark side (Ha! Ha!)

It once again proves that you have to "Try-on" a campus and see where you feel comfortable.

MSU accepted my daughter before Michigan did and she tried to convince herself that she could be a Spartan but life was much better from all of us when we got the "Welcome to U Of M"! She LOVES it!

Lauren, at least you are converted and reformed! LOL! Seriously, I have met so many students at Michigan who were raised MSU fans and could never genuinely learn to love Michigan. It is almost like they resented the fact that they had to attend it because it suited their academic goals better. I never understood their thinking, I guess one must be raised in a Spartan family/environment to fully comprehend that mind set. It really is irrational.

This said, you are going to have an awesome experience at Michigan. Just watchout for all the taunting you will get whenever Michigan loses a big game!

Gah, I'm in the opposite situation. Raised a UM fan, watilisted, going to MSU. I think I just might put up yellow and blue wallpaper in my dorm room, but I don't imagine that would go over too well.
