It's Time!!! (Regular Admission Decisions)

I'm not going to lie, that's good to hear! :p lol...and what a coincidence, MY sister went to Miami too! :D

Elizabethtown, oh my goodness, I totally agree with everything you said. UGA's admissions process is terrible and in no way fair. My brother put it best.. he said it's like they just go "ini mini myni mo." They should definitely look at other colleges and learn a few things from them. But UGA is still the school I would love to go to, so after a year or two at Ole Miss, I am planning on transferring there.

I'm excited about Ole Miss, but everytime I think about it, I get so angry about not getting into UGA. On the letter they sent me, it says that they didn't let me in because they had already reached the max number of students allowed by the Georgia Board of Regents. I found that hard to believe considering the fact that I submitted my application in mid-November. I should have been one of the first people to be notified of a decision. Their admissions process is honestly a load of crap.

I hate sounding bitter (because I'm honestly not, I swear), but I definitely agree J.C. The main thing that makes me mad is that I keep reading about all these people who were accepted with FAR lower stats and less ECs than me...but hey, I'm over it and ecstatic with where I'll be heading in the fall. Although, no one likes to hear 'no' and it would have been nice to go a perfect 5/5 with admissions. ;) :p

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone. :D

RodLo I agree with you, I'm not bitter either, I'm just like you, words cannot describe how excited I am about Ole Miss!! But I would be lying to say that I am not angry about not gettin into UGA, But UGA is my dream school, and I hope to transfer there ASAP.

Okay, I'm definitely not bitter since I got in, but something is definitely screwed up with UGA's admissions... One of my friends has a 3.3 GPA, 2120 (1410 V+M) and got rejected. I have no idea why, and he too got the "We have to cap enrollmen at 32,500" letter! Oh, he's instate, asian, public school.

That's crazy! Hopefully UGA will consider changing their admissions process, for the sake of future applicants.

That's ridiculous, Nov.

I have a 3.82GPA, 30 ACT, had (what I thought were) good essays, an awesome teacher rec, etc. I certainly didn't think I was an automatic in, but I definitely thought I had a really good shot...especially in the RD round. But nope, not to be. Boo-hoo, oh well. :p

Your GPA is higher than their average and your ACT is too... I don't see what happened. To be frank, I had comparable SAT and significantly lower GPA and I got in!

I think we really may be on to something here...

After reading your stats and posts (and honestly, every single one of you is intelligent- its obvious).....it has become clear to me that UGA lost some deserving, well-qualified, forward-thinking applicants. How sad for them!

One thing I know is thatbyour GPA matters the most at UGA. 3.0 and lower and you can basicly forget about it. I have a friend who got rejected as a first year. went to clemson and ended the year with a 2.9, tried to transferr to UGA but they told him that he had to have a 3.0 so they turned him down again. I do agree with ya'll that their admissions system is messed up but hey if you have a perfect GPA, and SAT scores why r u trying to go to UGA.

I honestly don't know WHAT UGA is trying to do. We came back to school today (spring break was last week) and I found out that quite a few people at my school got rejected...some in the top 5%...and they're black too. Myself and our valedictorian/salutatorian got accepted though, so I really don't know the effect Affirmative Action has on admissions decisions

weird...but it's not like I'm going to go appeal my acceptance lol...I'm happy that I got in...kinda sucks that some of my friends won't be there though

One you don't have to worry about if you are val/sal is that you are guranateed admission to uga. to bad i was ranked in the top 20%, since my school is so small, and i had to actually do the full application after being deferred EA, but in the end I got in. UGA is really big on Affirmative Action, at first i thought they were to big on it until i found out some of my other class mates didn't get in. But i'm not to bumb caused if they would've gotten in then i wouldn't even think about going to UGA

a girl i know was in the top 10% of our class with a 980 sat or so and got in from out of state last year. UGAs process is definitely messed up...

Good news for all those waitlisted! They're going to be calling up a lot more people this year, many within the next few days.

Wow surprising! Hopefully Ill get a phone call. If not Im not gonna sweat it.
