Does it matter? The sun is going to engulf the Earth anyway. The Earth will not last forever, sorry to break it to you. I don't see the reason for prolonging our fate.

I think everyone should listen to Stephen Hawking. We need to move to Mars :D.

I'm only being realistic. Eventually the human race will be wiped regardless of what we do. What about your great-great-great grandchildren? They could be the ones who will see the end to this world.

You don't make any sense. I can tell you don't have logic. Eventually, a generation of humans is going to die. It could be our generation in which the human race will be erased forever. That's life, and life isn't fair. Get used to it.

The graph in my previous post was over the last 1000 years in case you did not notice.

k...now you're just inconsistent. w/e...

So you're saying that life is futile? YOU don't make any sense. Just because the Earth will last only a billion years more (the earth's core will have completely cooled by then, and the nutrient-rich ash caused by volcanic eruptions will cease to fall, rendering all photosynthetic life on earth extinct) DOES NOT necessitate that we'll eventually go extinct. By then, we'll most likely have developed space-faring technology that will allow us to have transferred to another solar system.

What a sh.itty life that would be. But seriously, we would probably die out before the sun blows us up. What are the chances that overpopulation, disease, viruses, nuclear war, and natural disasters won't wipe us out?

I'd rather trust Stephen Hawking than a CC poster :D .

Personally I am not really all that concerned because I believe in reincarnation, so if this planet gets wiped out, we'll just reincarnate someplace else.

However, that is dreadfully inefficient and inconvenient. And not altogether painless.

In the meantime, I DO care about my children and their children. You, otoh, have the same logic as the chain smoker who says 'It doesn't matter cuz we all gotta die sometime.'

So, do you bother to put a seat belt on your child? Why bother, if s/he's gonna die anyway someday in the near or distant future?

Do you really have such a callous disregard for the lives of those you care about? How sad.

Sure. But it would be a damn shame if it were because of our own greed, selfishness, and stupidity.

It may be inevitable that it happen eventually, but it is NOT inevitable that it happen in your child's lifetime. So if you care enough about your child to make him/her wear a seatbelt, then it would behoove you to care enough to do your part to prevent a global catastrophe.

I thought it was interesting because the graphs show that the world has warmed over the last 45 years, but carbon dioxide levels have not risen that much.

Yeah... five billion years from now. Global warming will affect us in the next century, if it isn't clearly affecting us already. Five billion years from now, assuming we don't destroy ourselves and we continue our technological development, we will most certainly have propagated through the rest of the solar system and surrounding star systems. The human race is not doomed.

And how would that be a "sh.itty life?" I would much rather be living as a pioneer on another planet than be dead. It's people like you with your doomsday negativity and selfishness who are creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.
