IU BFA Acceptances?

One thing that they stressed at our audition was that the directors truly cast the person who is right for the part. In Seussical, two of the principle roles were BAs who were rejected from the BFA program.

The best thing about the BA is you can take other classes you might really be interested in while getting almost the same classes as an MT major.

Does anyone know if it is possible to double major in MT and another area at IU?

yes it is but.. It would be death and you would be doing five years..

theatregirl during the presentation given at audition it was pretty clear that doing the BFA meant no double major, semester abroad or even joining a sorority. The demands of the BFA required constant choices about foregoing other things. If you want anything else, I'd suggest taking the BA where you can have almost all the same classes but also other things

Do you think any of the MTs plan on doing study abroad in the summer (there are probably a lot of programs, I would think). Study abroad's been a dream of mine forever, so I need to figure out a way! Did they say anything about that in the presentation?

Though I'm not destroyed by the no sororities thing...was never planning to do that anyways...haha ;)

I don't know who told you that you can't do Greek life at IU if you are a BFA, but there is plenty of space for sororities/fraternities. All that this would mean is that you would have to set aside time in your schedule to do pledge work. It would be time consuming, yes, and perhaps it would mean that you couldn't do as many shows/projects that semester as you had hoped, but it is definitely possible. I would even recommend Greek life. It's a great way to meet people outside the theater department and get involved with campus activities aside from plays and musicals. Get involved!

And study abroad is definitely possible, you'd just have to do it during the summer (which is actually more convenient) so that your track isn't offset.

My daughter has made her final decision...Indiana MT/BFA! Yay! We are thrilled. Now we are trying to sign up for the summer orientation program. Has anyone else signed up already? We would love to meet some of the new MT and BA students and parents during our summer visit. We are from Los Angeles.
You can reply here or feel free to PM me at your convenience.

Lots of talented kids out there...congrats to all!!!

While it was MANY years ago...I was in a large sorority and we had several music majors as members. I really think you would be able to do it. I enjoyed greek life. It was very big when I was there.
Congratulations to all of the new HOOSIERS! My years there were wonderful...best wishes to all!
