I visited with my mom in August. No tour or anything, just explored campus and “B-town” together! Everything they say about the campus is true - and then some. absolutely GORGEOUS. Hills, tons of trees, amazing architecture, soooo much green space, and literally acres of woods with brick paths leading you to your academic buildings and classes . . .
Bloomington itself is charming. the sample gates lead right into the heart of downtown which has SO much diversity when it comes to culture, food (we ate at theFARM and it was delicious), shops/stores, and things to do! “urban” Bloomington has literally anything/everything you need/want! target, fresh thyme, Walmart, Kroger, etc. are all there in addition to all America’s classic restaurants (chick fila, Qdoba, jimmy johns Wendys, Mcdonalds, chipotle, you name it) and sams club is about 10ish minutes w
away.
absolutely fell in love with IU. I already wanted to go there even before I finally visited in person and just was even more obsessed when i stepped foot on campus. You can see why I’ve been on pins and needles waiting for my admission decision haha
best of wishes to you guys and hope you get to visit IU soon; it’s well worth the wait, time, and trip!
Thanks @16Defender for sharing your thoughts. We’ve watched the virtual tours - but there’s nothing like being on campus. Can’t wait to visit with my daughter. Best of luck to you!
So more decisions should come out tomorrow around 4 pm?
That’s been the pattern and what those of us who haven’t heard are hoping!
those who have NOT received a decision yet (like me), what are your stats?
My daughter was accepted to Kelley direct admit, we have not visited either. Hope to get up there in the Spring, would love to hear about the “Kelley dorm” she doesn’t want that “type” of dorm. Not sure what that means.
Thanks
We got it three days later. She got the IU email on 11/12, the Kelley direct admit email on 11/13 and the scholarship letter was postmarked 11/12 and received Monday 11/15. It was her first, so I remember, because it was exciting!
Used to be called KLLC - Highly recommended. A few years back it got closed down for Mold issues. But once they open - it’s definitely recommended
We have not visited either, trying to plan out how in March we can see all of the campuses he’s been accepted to.
Can someone explain how to actually view my status update? I go to the website and it feels super clunky. When I press on “Application Status” it brings me to a page that feels wrong. Am I doing anything incorrectly or is the website just not very great?
Here in New England the school vacations are in February and April so it will be tricky as to when we can visit schools. I’m concerned the virus will not allow a February visit…
You’re doing it right; the page is very antiquated and difficult to navigate. When you’re admitted it will say congratulations underneath the table that has your name, major, etc.
okay, thank you
We went for a tour in March right before everything started shutting down.
The school was beautiful. Big, but super walkable, even on a cold day. My son is interested in Kelley, and that building is fantastic!
Bloomington is a lovely little Mecca in, well, I won’t comment on southern Indiana. They brag that they have the 2nd most international restaurants per capita than NYC. We had lunch at an Indian restaurant, and it was great.
Heading out of town, we drove around, and it really is a busy, vibrant place.
While it doesn’t give you a close look at IU or the town, watch Breaking Away. The bike race still happens.
What is it like? Mold? After the remediation did they update it? Are the kids social or do they study all the time?
Hello everyone! I had applied on October 31 and submitted all the additional materials on November 26. I submitted my petition on December 7th. I got my admission letter to IU on 10th December, but have not heard anything from Kelley. In the application status of Portal, it says “University Div Pre-Business”. So did I get rejected as a direct admit or do I have to wait a bit more?
My son’s said University Div Pre-Business until he got his Kelley admit, now it says Business Undergraduate.
Seems like it varies how long between admit and Kelley notification. For some on here, it was a couple of days to a week, but someone just posted today that it was almost 4 weeks. We are in the same boat. Heard on 12/3 and got mailed package with scholarship yesterday, but silence on Kelley even though my son meets the qualifications. Kelley with direct admit is the only way he will consider IU.
What do you mean by petition? What were you petitioning?
