ohh okay, right makes sense, alright thankyou so much
Were you surprised that with the stats for auto admit to Kelley AND Hutton you only got 6K/yr Dean’s scholarship?
Do you mind sharing what you got for OOS Dean’s scholarship?
Honestly hard to know what to expect. His UW was 3.79 and I’m guessing 3.8 was some sort of cutoff. Also he will have 5 APs and 2 Honors which sounds good but at his HS most kids have 8-12 APs. More would be nice but honestly didn’t know what to expect. $6k takes a bit of an edge off and IU is less OOS than many others to start.
@Cameron121, is that his full financial package or is that just for a specific scholarship? I’m just curious as to where we can find the financial offer. My kid hasn’t found it on their site, but to be fair the application status site at IU is a bit bulky.
Anyone know the plan to release the full aid package or if it’s already been released, where can we find it?
I’ve read on the Student Central part of the OneIu site that incoming freshmen should start getting their financial aid packets starting in February. Their site is cumbersome to say the least. I hope that this is helpful.
My son also got the Hutton email
What does Hutton Honors provide for Kelley students?
We did not submit a FAFSA, the scholarship is purely merit and that’s all we are going to get.
You can read about it at the link below. Actually does anyone know if Hutton provides registration priority like other schools do for honors students? I didn’t see anything about that on the website, but this is obviously a great benefit at a large school.
IU prioritizes class registrations based on credit hours. Credits hours from AP classes, dual credit, exemptions, etc. will give you an advantage. Many popular classes are quickly filled because students with 50+ credits get first dibs.
Also - for those that don’t already know, there will be a re-evaluation for Dean’s/Provost’s scholarships sometime in March when financial aid packages are finalized. The initial review was based solely on GPA to give test-optional kids a fair shot at aid, and those with test scores may have their amount increased at a later date if the test score is deemed to warrant an increase.
I learned this info via an email exchange with the scholarship office.
Hutton provides some nice perks to students such as scholarships, study abroad grants, mentoring, etc. You also graduate with Honors notation, but that doesn’t really matter as much. Sometimes the honors classes that only Hutton kids can take are actually easier with better professors too. Overall a great program with nearly no downsides.
Thank you - very helpful - this was not on my radar at all. So if you are Direct Admit to Hutton there is nothing else to do? Assuming students would learn more when selecting classes and could opt out? What are chances for Hutton related scholarship?
I would think surrounding yourself with other honors kids would be a big bonus to getting into Hutton.
If you have the stats listed on the Huttons website then you are a DA and do not need to do anything else. If you fall below the stats there is also a petition process.
Hutton scholarships for freshmen are competitive and are awarded based on stats and information provided through the SSA. They run about $1-4k a year. I believe you can apply for them later on (as a current student) if you didn’t get any from the SSA.
Thank you for this information!!
Of course!! I’ve spent the past 2 years researching the ins and outs of Kelley and the scholarship process so that I could put my best foot forward. Let me know if you have any other questions.
With your stats and responses I think that you could say, “Mission Accomplished”!! My oldest was a 2018 Kelley grad. Best four years of his life. Good Luck, but you really don’t need it😉
Can’t wait!
