IU Kelley Petition Tracker 2023

@2ndtogo Well this is so discouraging - I’m sorry to hear this. I hope she finds the perfect school for her if she decides not to to IU. We are still waiting on our twin sons’ decision and the waiting process itself is starting to be a turn off.

The email will be from “bschool”.

Yes - my daughter’s email related to Kelley Direct admission came from “BSchool” as the sender.

I am also waiting for my twin son’s decision. His twin sister was accepted direct admit first week of December and they petitioned 1.5 weeks apart from each other. Very frustrating to say the least and honestly it is starting to discourage him in even considering IU at this point (which I don’t want to happen). Hope we see something VERY VERY soon.

Oh geez. That is sooooo weird and extra stressful to have one decision and not the other. I can completely understand why his enthusiasm is waning at this point.

It is also possible there are more direct admits this year and consequently less petitions accepted? pure speculation on my part. The HS GPAs have been on a upward trend these past couple of years …

There is definitely more applications for direct admit. Heard they had received over 8000 direct admit applicants.

For us, the weird part is my son has almost the exact same GPA as his sister that got in, 3.95/4.6 (she has 4.0/4.7). Not the same EC’s (if they look at that) but equally as good (4 year Varsity sport, 2 yrs editor of school newspaper with multiple state and local awards, 100+ community service hours, job for 2.5 years, and high school mentor). So I would think he is up there in gpa/rigor and ec’s.

if they are building a class, like they frequently mention on CC, then having different ECs should be a plus and he should be admitted.

@twins2023 I’m just guessing that part of what might be going on is the diversity targets of the school. Women applying for a business major is more rare than men, so it is likely resulting in more competition and a higher standard for your son. That has to be difficult, I wish you the best of luck with your sons direct admit. We’re still waiting and hoping for a direct admit for my son too.

Wondering what everyone who is awaiting their Kelley decision is doing about housing since the applications opened yesterday. Just waiting it out and hoping for the best? Can’t do much else I guess.

Is the housing application refundable if the student chooses to not attend?

I would guess not. It’s $200.

Not that anyone wants to lose $200, but considering the competition for IU housing probably worth the risk. You might confirm if it’s refundable or not. You don’t have to commit to the school, correct? (Meaning the housing is separate from enrollment)

To answer the question…the $200 application fee for housing is non-refundable.

Has anyone tried contacting the bschool ?

We did the housing form and pay the $200 just to secure a spot in the event our son gets in and chooses to go there. We have an older child at IU and it is worth it to ensure getting the housing you want if you are willing to lose the $200.

I have called Kelley twice to try and probe a little on the release of decisions, and they basically tell you next to nothing!

Spoke with housing…they say anyone who puts $200 deposit in the first round ie Feb 1-May 1(not sure of exact dates) is considered the same. In years past it was “first come first serve”. At least that’s what they say!

Thanks!

It is not refundable. Housing is also not first come first serve anymore. So if you apply to housing April 30th it is no different than applying today.

We are waiting. IU no longer has “first come, first served” so it doesn’t matter whether you get the application in today or on April 30th. They will all be given the same weight. My daughter wants to attend several admitted student days at various other colleges, so she’s not ready to make her decision yet.
